AD Small Spaces: This 232-square-foot Pune office embodies Mid-Century aesthetics

The Dream Space Design Studio in Pune, India, designed its 232-square-foot office to reflect a cohesive blend of Mid-Century and English Contemporary aesthetics, emphasizing comfort and warmth. Aditi Kalbhor and Vivek Ondkar, the studio's founders, guided the design process with a clear vision, drawing on their shared appreciation for clean lines, functional furniture, and minimal ornamentation observed during their travels and experiences in various spaces. This approach aimed to create an environment that embodies their design philosophy and evokes distinct emotions. The entrance features a curved wooden panel that proudly displays the 'Dream Space' branding, establishing a welcoming atmosphere. The natural wood, combined with a minimalist logo and a low ledge, highlights the material palette. A notable design element is a discreetly concealed toilet behind the vertical wood panelling, which seamlessly integrates into the accent wall, making the door nearly invisible. This adds an unexpected and sophisticated detail to the entry area. To manage the studio's diverse functions within its rectangular footprint, dummy walls were strategically incorporated to define distinct zones. The cabin, which also serves as a conference room, is a central collaborative space for brainstorming. This area is characterized by tall, open shelves with arched tops, blending traditional English design with modern functionality. Brass accents on the shelves and handles contribute to an elevated aesthetic, drawing inspiration from English Contemporary style through traditional elements, intricate mouldings, and rich wood textures, all softened by a neutral color palette. All furniture in the studio is custom-crafted, with many pieces featuring natural rattan inlays framed in wood, which introduces warmth and texture. Above the black work desk, a custom-made chandelier with cylindrical white shades and brass frames provides warm, diffused lighting, complementing the timeless elegance of the overall design. The lounge area, designated for informal discussions and breaks, is defined by a striking black-framed partition adorned with elegant arched motifs, gracefully separating it from the main workspace. A highlighted ceiling cornice, painted in a darker shade than the walls, serves as both a bold design experiment and a practical demonstration to clients of how such features can enhance a space. Completing the office's functionality is a pantry equipped with a sleek kitchenette, featuring natural wood cabinetry and a marble backsplash. Brass hardware and an integrated design ensure this refreshment zone blends harmoniously with the overall aesthetic. The thoughtful selection of materials, including wood, rattan, brass, and light-toned walls, creates a cohesive foundation that balances sophistication and comfort, reflecting an environment meticulously designed for productivity, creativity, and comfort. #OfficeDesign #SmallSpaces #MidCenturyAesthetics #EnglishContemporary #PuneOffice #InteriorDesign #CustomFurniture #Workspaces #ArchitecturalDesign #OfficeDesign #SmallSpaces #MidCenturyAesthetics #EnglishContemporary #PuneOffice #InteriorDesign #CustomFurniture #Workspaces #ArchitecturalDesign
