benjamin hubert expands upholstered talma collection for moroso

Benjamin Hubert, a British designer, has expanded his 'Talma' collection for the Italian furniture company Moroso, introducing a new dining chair that builds upon the foundational concept of the 'Talma' lounge chair. The collection's design philosophy revolves around 'fashion for furniture,' drawing inspiration from the way a cloak drapes around the human body. This central idea is manifested through a softly padded fabric cover that envelops a lightweight, CNC-formed steel framework. The aesthetic aims to evoke the comforting and natural embrace of a blanket. The new 'Talma' dining chair, like its lounge chair predecessor, showcases this unique design approach. It is available in variations with and without arms, providing versatility for different interior settings. A key element of the dining chair's design is its specialized cover, which is the result of a collaborative effort between Hubert's in-house design team and the Dutch textile manufacturer Innofa. This partnership highlights a focus on material innovation and a tailored approach to upholstery. Functionality and durability are addressed through thoughtful construction details. The edges of the fabric cover are meticulously trimmed with leather, serving both an aesthetic purpose by providing a refined finish and a practical one by sealing the material. The cover is securely attached to the steel frame using a series of zippers, a design choice that facilitates ease of assembly, disassembly, and potential cleaning or replacement. This zippered attachment mechanism also subtly reinforces the 'fashion for furniture' concept, likening the upholstery to a garment that can be donned and doffed. Several images accompany the description, offering a comprehensive visual understanding of the 'Talma' collection. These illustrations include a general view of the 'Talma' collection, a side view of the 'Talma' dining armchair, a three-quarter view of the dining armchair, and a side view of the dining chair. Further images delve into the construction process, showing the 'Talma' frame and the finished seat, detailing the upholstery construction, and explicitly highlighting how the fabric is zipped into place. Additionally, images of prototypes offer insight into the developmental stages of the design, showcasing the iterative process behind the final product. The article notes that this project was submitted through 'DIY submissions,' indicating a platform where readers can present their own creative work for potential publication. This underscores a community-oriented aspect of the design platform, fostering engagement with emerging and established designers. The expansion of the 'Talma' collection into dining chairs represents a continued exploration of the initial lounge chair's design principles, applying them to new furniture typologies while maintaining the core aesthetic and functional innovations. #BenjaminHubert #Moroso #TalmaCollection #FurnitureDesign #DiningChair #UpholsteredFurniture #TextileDesign #ProductDesign #InteriorDesign #BenjaminHubert #Moroso #TalmaCollection #FurnitureDesign #DiningChair #UpholsteredFurniture #TextileDesign #ProductDesign #InteriorDesign
