Designer Bria Hammel to Launch Kid-Friendly Home Furnishings Line
Interior designer Bria Hammel is preparing to launch her own home furnishings line, Brooke & Lou, in August, named after her two children. Hammel's business, which she started with a single assistant six years ago, has grown significantly, now employing a team of 12 and handling projects across multiple states. The new collection is designed to be "life-friendly," catering to the common client request for durable pieces that can withstand daily wear and tear from children and common household incidents like spilled wine. The product line will encompass upholstered furniture, case goods, accessories, wallpapers, and pillows.
Hammel describes the aesthetic of Brooke & Lou as a "fresh take on traditional preppy style," drawing inspiration from her Texan roots and an affinity for Southern design. This influence is intended to create a welcoming, bright, and cheerful home environment. The article highlights some of Hammel's previous design projects, showcasing her personal style, which she characterizes as a blend of coastal, preppy, and cottage elements. An example of this is a powder room featured in the article.
Another project, a black-and-white entry, is noted as being particularly popular among her extensive Instagram following, which exceeds 45,000. The emphasis on practicality is further illustrated by a kitchen design where the fabric on the bar stools is described as "life-friendly," capable of easy cleaning even after spills like spaghetti. The collection aims to make stylish yet robust home furnishings more accessible to a broader audience.
