The hotel features an origami-inspired sculptural facade and houses only 10 rooms, each embodying a blend of Japanese aesthetics and Mexican craftsmanship. The design of Ryo Kan MX was spearheaded by architect Regina Galvanduque of GLVDK Studio, who oversaw not only the architectural framework but also the interior decor, art selection, branding, and even the tableware. The overarching design philosophy emphasizes the integration of Japanese hospitality principles with local Mexican materials and contemporary technology. Throughout the hotel, a commitment to locally sourced materials and textures is evident, coupled with styling that draws heavily from Japanese design traditions. Sliding modular doors, reminiscent of traditional Japanese shoji screens, are also a prominent feature.
