The design of the house was significantly influenced by its tropical environment and the need to frame the panoramic ocean vista, which the architects describe as being captured "like a wide-angle camera." The central feature of the Vista House is its impressive low-slung, gabled roof, measuring approximately 15 meters wide, 3.5 meters tall, and 60 meters long. This substantial wooden roof creates a sense of scale and protection, beneath which the living areas are strategically placed. The roof's exterior is clad in hand-carved wooden shingles, adding to the organic aesthetic, while the outer structure is wrapped in eucalyptus staves.
