Sherwin-Williams' 2026 Color Forecast Is Here and It’s Packed With 48 Fresh Hues

Sherwin-Williams has released its 2026 Colormix Trend Forecast, titled 'Anthology Volume Two,' which features 48 carefully selected hues. This forecast acts as a guide to upcoming color trends across various industries, including home interiors and commercial spaces. The report is the result of extensive research, analytical work, and trend tracking by Sherwin-Williams’ expert Trendsight Team, led by Director of Color Marketing Sue Wadden and Color Marketing Manager Emily Kantz. Their combined expertise, spanning over 200 years, ensures that the chosen palettes accurately reflect the evolving collective design preferences. The 2026 forecast builds on the 2024 Anthology Volume One, focusing on the continued evolution of specific color families. This latest installment introduces four distinct palettes: Frosted Tints, Sunbaked Hues, Restorative Darks, and Foundational Neutrals. Each palette is designed to cater to different moods and functional requirements of spaces. The Frosted Tints palette consists of sophisticated pastels, such as milky lavenders, gauzy blues, and refreshing greens. These colors are ideal for creating light and airy environments, as noted by New Jersey-based designer Beth Diana Smith. They are particularly effective in bathrooms, where their translucent quality contributes to a spa-like serenity, and in kitchens, offering a fresh alternative to more traditional cabinet colors like navy and forest green. This palette serves as an accessible entry point for clients seeking to introduce more personality into their spaces without fully committing to bolder, more intense colors. Next, the Sunbaked Hues palette draws inspiration from the 1970s but reinterprets it through a contemporary lens. This approach avoids the heavy, often muddy earth tones of that era, instead presenting refined versions of terracotta, saffron yellows, and rich reds. These colors are dynamic, shifting with natural light to create lively spaces throughout the day. Smith suggests these colors can be used in diverse settings, including living rooms, bathrooms, and patios, highlighting their ability to curate unexpected yet cohesive color stories. Henna Shade SW 6326, an organic and earthy red, is noted for its depth and moodiness, changing its tone from day to night. This palette is particularly impactful in dining rooms, where warm tones foster a convivial atmosphere, and in home offices, providing energy without being overly stimulating. Restorative Darks embrace deep, nocturnal colors designed to evoke comfort and enclosure. These hues are suitable for creating distinct atmospheres in different rooms. In bedrooms, they establish a clear boundary between day and night, aiding in relaxation and sleep. In dining rooms, they promote intimate conversations by creating a sense of coziness that encourages guests to linger. When using this palette, the integration of natural textures like raw wood, linen, and brushed metals is crucial to prevent the deep colors from overwhelming the space and to maintain a balanced aesthetic. Finally, the Foundational Neutrals palette redefines traditional neutrals, moving beyond conventional beiges and contractor whites. It introduces a range of nuanced options, including crisp whites with varying undertones (cool or warm), grays with distinct personalities (blue or green pulls), and inviting blacks. This palette is considered revolutionary due to its emphasis on layered, character-rich neutrals that perform significant aesthetic work. It aims to offer more sophisticated and engaging alternatives to commonly used, often uninspired neutral shades, providing versatile options that contribute to the overall character and mood of a space. #ColorForecast #SherwinWilliams #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #PaintColors #DesignTrends #ColorPalettes #ColorForecast #SherwinWilliams #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #PaintColors #DesignTrends #ColorPalettes
