The New Sherwin-Williams 2025 Color Trends Are Bursting with Energetic Hues
Sherwin-Williams has released its 2025 Colormix Forecast, which identifies broader color trends for the upcoming year, distinct from their annual color of the year selection. This forecast is developed by the brand’s Trendsight Team, leveraging data-driven predictions to identify prominent hues for the next year. The 2025 forecast organizes colors into four distinct capsules: Chrysalis, Paradox, Wellspring, and Kindred, a shift from the previous year's focus on color families. Each capsule contains 12 curated colors, totaling 48 hues that collectively exude a bright and nuanced energy. While some capsules feature vibrant and playful tones, others offer more subtle and quiet options, yet all maintain a certain boldness, signaling a positive and confident approach to color trends in 2025.
The Chrysalis capsule aims to evoke a sense of peaceful and intentional living, alongside transformative future thinking. Its color palette is inspired by natural elements such as wood tones, sifting sands, and freshly turned earth. This capsule includes colors like Mexican Sand, Sealskin, Pure White, Studio Clay, Grounded, Studio Mauve, Carnelian, Shiitake, Thunderous, Mindful Gray, Drift of Mist, and Tanbark.
The Paradox capsule challenges conventional color expectations with a vibrant array of 'dopamine-drenched' hues. It combines electric brights with grounding neutrals and playful candy-coated accents. The colors within this capsule are Egret White, Dragon Fruit, Talipot Palm, Inkwell, Slow Green, Alabaster, Antiquarian Brown, Frank Blue, Rejuvenate, Quilt Gold, Cascades, and Euphoric Lilac.
Wellspring, the third capsule, is characterized by mystical blues, meditative midtones, and compelling chromas that foster a connection to nature, craftsmanship, and personal narratives. This collection features Warm Stone, Persimmon, Borscht, Bosc Pear, French Roast, Oyster White, Tres Naturale, Upward, Outerspace, Chartreuse, Green Bray, and Gallery Green.
Finally, the Kindred capsule encourages openness and a sense of belonging through a collection of warm neutrals, sheltering deeps, and warmhearted colors designed to nurture and nourish. The colors in the Kindred collection include Redend Point, Dark Night, Rookwood Red, Caribbean Coral, Koral Kicks, Storm Cloud, Icy Lemonade, Rockweed, Tidewater, Sun Bleached Ochre, Creamy, and Red Tomato.
Alongside the launch of the 2025 Colormix Forecast, Sherwin-Williams also introduced a new podcast, 'ColorMixology,' hosted by Sue Wadden, the company's director of color marketing. The podcast will delve into color trends, home and design technology, and the Colormix Forecast itself. Wadden expressed that the forecast aims to immerse individuals in the storytelling world of these capsules, exploring how colors, materials, and finishes can inspire innovation, forge connections, and shape the future of residential and commercial design.
