Expert explains why you should avoid black and grey window frames in your home

The popularity of black, grey, and anthracite window frames has grown significantly among interior designers, architects, and homeowners in recent years, particularly black frames for new constructions. However, Limerick-based interior designer Wioleta Kelly advises against this trend for all homes, highlighting several factors to consider before choosing dark window frames. Kelly emphasized that black or grey windows are demanding and require careful decoration to integrate them effectively into a home's aesthetic. She specifically warned against pairing dark frames with white blinds, stating that such a combination would not be visually appealing. Kelly further suggested that any color used in a room, including window frames, should be repeated elsewhere to create a cohesive design. Homeowners opting for black windows, for instance, should be prepared to incorporate black accents into their decor. Additionally, she noted that black window frames are only suitable for exteriors if the roof is also black or grey. If the roof has a different color, Kelly recommended considering cream or white window frames instead to ensure a harmonious exterior appearance. She concluded by stressing that choosing window colors is a significant decision during home construction and should not be made without careful consideration. The decision should be based on a comprehensive understanding of how the window frames will affect both the interior and exterior aesthetics, rather than simply following a popular trend. Kelly’s advice generated diverse reactions among her social media followers. Some agreed with her perspective, acknowledging that dark windows, while stylish, may not suit every house design and require substantial planning due to their cost. They agreed that fashionable choices are not always the best choices and that careful consideration is necessary given the investment involved. Conversely, other followers expressed disagreement, asserting that dark windows can be stunning and can effectively frame a moody-themed room. They also pointed out the option of having dark frames on the exterior and lighter shades like white or cream on the interior, suggesting that the ultimate choice is a matter of personal preference. Despite the differing opinions, the discussion underscored the importance of thoughtful decision-making when selecting window frame colors. #InteriorDesign #WindowFrames #HomeDecor #WioletaKelly #Limerick #DesignTrends #HomeRenovation #ColourCoordination #ArchitecturalChoices #InteriorDesign #WindowFrames #HomeDecor #WioletaKelly #Limerick #DesignTrends #HomeRenovation #ColourCoordination #ArchitecturalChoices
