Closet Envy: Dressing Up A 600-Square-Foot Solon Wardrobe Room
This article details the design and features of an elaborate 600-square-foot dressing room located within a Solon home, a project completed by Closet Factory Cleveland. The space, a key component of a larger first-floor master suite renovation, transcends the typical definition of a closet, functioning as a comprehensive dressing area designed for ultimate convenience and luxury. Senior designer Beth Patrick of Closet Factory Cleveland spearheaded the design, collaborating with Otero Signature Homes and the Jones Group, a process that took approximately six months to finalize.
The dressing room is conceptualized as a self-contained unit, allowing its occupants to complete various personal care and wardrobe-related tasks without needing to leave the area. This includes a dedicated makeup room equipped with a high-end vanity mirror, an accessory room for organized storage, an integrated washer-and-dryer area, and even a mini fridge for added comfort. The design prioritizes both functionality and aesthetic appeal, creating a space that is both practical and visually pleasing.
The aesthetic foundation of the dressing room is built upon a light and airy theme, featuring cream-colored cabinets and neutral fabrics that establish a serene backdrop. Complementing this, two distinct spiky, orb glass chandeliers serve as whimsical focal points above a central island, introducing an element of playful elegance. The design incorporates a variety of materials and dimensions to add visual interest and depth to the overall space.
A central feature is the vanity area, designed for daily preparation and equipped with hidden compartments to maximize storage efficiency. A dedicated personal grooming drawer conveniently houses hair dryers, curling irons, and flat irons, all pre-assembled and plugged in for immediate use. Adjacent to the mirror, a glass sink facilitates easy makeup removal, underscoring the thoughtful integration of practical elements.
Further enhancing the room's luxurious feel are tempered glass display cases positioned at the entrance to the main dressing area. These cases are specifically designed to showcase high-end shoes and handbags, utilizing LED strip lighting, puck lighting, and illuminated rods to highlight these investment pieces. This deliberate presentation transforms wardrobe items into decorative exhibits, creating a visually appealing entry point.
For the male occupant, a locker-style storage area is incorporated, specifically tailored for travel preparation. This section allows for the organization of outfits for multiple days, including shoes, socks, and ties, simplifying the packing process. The main dressing area features a maple island with multiple drawers, each assigned a specific purpose for storing accessories like sunglasses, ties, socks, and workout clothes. Every drawer within the island was meticulously planned to cater to the owners' specific storage needs, demonstrating a high level of customization and attention to detail in the design process.
