Hisense CanvasTV QLED 2024 Review

The Hisense CanvasTV QLED 2024 is presented as a mid-range 4K television that integrates a distinctive design, aiming to function as both a smart TV and a piece of art when wall-mounted. This review provides an in-depth look at its features, performance, and overall user experience. The television is available in 55 and 65 inches and comes with a wood-like aluminum frame and a pre-selected collection of digital art, designed to mimic a real canvas. This aesthetic focus is a primary selling point, differentiating it from conventional televisions. The design of the CanvasTV emphasizes its role as an artistic element in a living space. It features an elegant wood-like aluminum frame, available in White, Black, and Teak, and a matte-finish screen coating that effectively reduces reflections, making it suitable for brightly lit rooms. The TV can be placed on a tabletop using included feet or mounted flush against a wall with Hisense's UltraSlim Wall Mount. The build quality is robust, combining a plastic back with the aluminum frame, though the frame slightly overlaps the first row of pixels, which is generally not noticeable from a typical viewing distance. The tabletop stand shows minor wobble but maintains overall stability. Regarding connectivity and smart features, the CanvasTV includes four HDMI ports, two of which support HDMI 2.1 for high-performance gaming at 4K 144Hz or 1080p 240Hz. It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for enhanced visual fidelity and passes through advanced audio formats via its eARC port. The television runs on Google TV OS (v12), offering a smooth interface and access to a wide array of applications. The included remote is backlit, features dedicated buttons for popular streaming services, and supports voice commands. Setting up the CanvasTV is straightforward for tabletop use. However, wall-mounting requires more effort due to less clear instructions and the absence of a hanging template. Careful planning for cable management is necessary as the side-facing rear ports become difficult to access once the TV is flush-mounted. Two people are recommended for wall installation. The picture quality is characterized by a wide color gamut due to its KSF phosphor coating, producing vibrant colors. The matte screen is effective in reducing glare. A notable limitation is the absence of local dimming, which affects the contrast ratio and causes dark scenes to appear somewhat washed out. Out-of-the-box color accuracy is suboptimal, with a tendency towards a cooler temperature and color mapping issues, necessitating post-calibration for significant improvement. Even after calibration, minor color inconsistencies can persist in extreme bright or dark scenes. For gaming, the CanvasTV offers low input lag and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support, including compatibility with 4K at 144Hz and 1080p at 240Hz. It supports major gaming consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, along with Auto Low Latency Mode and AMD FreeSync Premium for a smooth gaming experience. However, enabling VRR at 1080p 240Hz can lead to frame skipping and desaturated colors. The built-in speakers provide high volume but can produce harsh sound, particularly at louder settings, and lack Dolby Atmos support, suggesting the addition of an external soundbar for improved audio. Valued at $1,298 for the 65-inch model, the CanvasTV presents a more affordable alternative to similar art-focused TVs like Samsung's The Frame, which often requires separate purchases for its frame. The Hisense CanvasTV includes an attractive magnetic frame as standard. The overall experience emphasizes its dual role as a television and a home decor item, with Art Mode allowing it to display various preset or uploaded images, seamlessly integrating into different home environments. This balance of design and affordability makes it an appealing option for consumers prioritizing both aesthetics and budget in their home entertainment setup. #Hisense #CanvasTV #QLEDTV #SmartTV #HomeDecor #TelevisionReview #GamingTV #ArtMode #GoogleTV #Hisense #CanvasTV #QLEDTV #SmartTV #HomeDecor #TelevisionReview #GamingTV #ArtMode #GoogleTV
