The Summit Estate Paint Guide
This guide details the paint colors utilized throughout The Summit Estate, addressing a common inquiry regarding the specific hues chosen for Studio McGee's design projects. The design process for a home involves numerous layers, from initial architectural planning and collaboration with builders to furniture arrangement and the meticulous creation of a "paint schedule" for each room. For The Summit Estate, Shea and her design team developed a cohesive paint plan that effectively unifies the various rooms while imbuing the home with its unique color palette. This scheme primarily incorporates earthy neutrals, complemented by a selection of more saturated colors inspired by the autumnal landscape of Utah.
In many of the communal areas, Benjamin Moore's Dune White was chosen for its versatile nature, featuring subtle undertones of grey and green. For the main floor bar, a color-blocking technique was employed, with walls, trimwork, and ceilings painted in Benjamin Moore's Barista, and the cabinetry in Stonecutter by Benjamin Moore. The kitchen's design inspiration stemmed from a dark green Lacanche Range, leading to the selection of Deep River by Benjamin Moore for the kitchen cabinetry and pantry, creating a cohesive and moody aesthetic.
The office space features cabinetry in Nightfall by Benjamin Moore, contributing to a deep-hued, moody ambiance. In the junior suite bedroom, the walls are painted in Coriander Seed by Benjamin Moore, while the bathroom cabinetry is Cabbage Patch by Benjamin Moore. The trimwork and ceilings in this bathroom are Dune White, contrasting with the Scala Wallpaper by Susan Connor on the walls.
The basement bar shelves are painted in Knoxville Gray by Benjamin Moore. The mudroom introduces a vibrant element with Rattan by Benjamin Moore covering the walls, trimwork, and cabinetry. In the bunk room, the bunk beds are painted Dark Pewter by Benjamin Moore, surrounded by walls adorned with MORPH in Navy wallpaper by Quercus & Co. The bunk room bathroom features Desert Twilight by Benjamin Moore on its walls. Lastly, the wine room cabinetry is painted in Nicolson Red by Benjamin Moore, while another area uses Louisburg Green by Benjamin Moore for walls, trimwork, and cabinetry, further illustrating the diverse yet harmonious color scheme of The Summit Estate.
