Kangbashi Trail / DAIKOSHA Architectural Design
The Kangbashi Trail project, designed by DAIKOSHA Architectural Design, is located in the Kangbashi District of Ordos City, China. The site is situated north of Kangbashi No. 9 Primary School and west of Ordos Applied Technology College, with a natural red sandstone slope to its north. This area, characterized by dense schools and residential communities, previously lacked adequate venues for leisure activities. The design team's primary objective was to leverage the existing environmental resources and characteristics to create a high-quality, functional, and engaging outdoor space.
The core concepts guiding the project were nature, sustainability, and national fitness. The designers aimed to develop a landscape-oriented space that integrates these elements, offering a rich, healthy, and natural lifestyle experience for the city's residents. The project covers an area of 30,000 square meters and was completed in 2023. The architectural firm responsible for the design is DAIKOSHA Architectural Design, with Qiang Xu as the principal architect. The design team included Longlong Du, Fang Du, Xiaohai Qi, Haiyan Zhu, AriGuNa, and Jiaojiao Feng. The client for the project was Ordos Tonghui Municipal Engineering Co., Ltd, and the photography was provided by Hohhot Daliangzao Architectural Design Consulting Co., Ltd.
The Kangbashi Trail is envisioned as an evolutionary and participatory landscape, incorporating large-scale landscape textures to define its various zones and functions.
