These smart home gadgets work with both Siri and Alexa

The increasing popularity of voice assistants like Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa has led to a demand for smart home devices compatible with both. This article compiles a list of such gadgets, enabling users to control their connected homes with either voice assistant, offering greater flexibility and choice. The Nanoleaf Aurora, triangular LED panels that change colors, supports Siri commands via Apple HomeKit and gained Amazon Alexa controls in 2017. Similarly, Nanoleaf's Ivy smart bulbs, known for their unique 3D-printed design and dodecahedron-shaped ZigBee hub, also offer both Alexa and Siri support. Lutron Caseta smart switches, both in-wall dimmer switches and plug-in dimmer switches for lamps, are highlighted as strong smart lighting options compatible with both voice assistants. The article emphasizes the necessity of using the Lutron Bridge for Siri compatibility, noting that the Wink Hub only provides Alexa support. Incipio is introducing new dual-compatible devices, including a Wi-Fi-enabled smart dimmer switch and a Wi-Fi power strip, allowing individual control of four plugs using either Siri or Alexa. Philips Hue's color-changing LEDs are presented as another versatile smart lighting solution, supporting Siri, Alexa, and even Google Home, provided the current-generation Philips Hue Bridge is used. The more affordable Philips Hue White Starter Kit is recommended for those prioritizing voice control over color-changing capabilities, with the option to add full-color bulbs later. Lifx, a competitor to Philips Hue, also announced Siri support for its latest-generation color-changing bulbs in February 2017, complementing its existing Alexa compatibility. For users preferring to retain their existing light bulbs, the iDevices Socket offers a solution to smarten up any bulb with both Siri and Alexa control. iDevices further expands its dual-compatibility lineup with a plug-in smart switch for general appliance control and a weather-proofed outdoor switch for external lights and appliances. The upcoming iDevices Instant Switch will provide wireless control of other iDevices products, maintaining Alexa and Siri compatibility. In the smart thermostat category, the iDevices Thermostat and Ecobee3 smart thermostat are recognized for their dual voice assistant support. The Ecobee3 was one of the first to integrate with both Apple and Amazon's voice assistants, while the more budget-friendly Ecobee3 Lite also offers this feature, albeit without remote sensors. The Honeywell Lyric T5 thermostat is another option for connected climate control compatible with both Siri and Alexa, offering a cost-effective solution with useful smart home integrations. Finally, for smart locks, the August Smart Lock is identified as the only option that works with both Siri and Alexa, including a kit compatible with mortise locks. These devices collectively offer a comprehensive range of solutions for integrating smart home functionality with both Siri and Alexa voice control, catering to diverse user preferences and needs in lighting, power, climate control, and security. #SmartHome #VoiceControl #Siri #Alexa #SmartLighting #SmartThermostat #SmartLock #HomeAutomation #IoT #SmartHome #VoiceControl #Siri #Alexa #SmartLighting #SmartThermostat #SmartLock #HomeAutomation #IoT
