Benjamin Moore's Colour of the Year 2021 is blue-green Aegean Teal
Benjamin Moore has named Aegean Teal as its Colour of the Year for 2021. This blue-green blend was selected for its earthy character and its capacity to enrich a space by harmonizing warm and cool tones. Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore Director of Color Marketing & Development, stated that the color conveys “a welcoming, lived-in quality that celebrates the connections and real moments that take place within the home.”
Aegean Teal is part of the broader Benjamin Moore Colour Trends 2021 palette, which includes 11 other warm and tranquil shades. This collection of colors is designed to be easy to live with and aims to evoke a sense of balance and grounding. The palette incorporates a variety of hues, such as rosy rust tones, soft sage shades, and subtle accents of natural muslin and charcoal, all intended to create a cohesive and calming environment.
Helen Shaw, Benjamin Moore UK Director, commented on the 2021 color palette, highlighting its suitability for current living conditions. With people spending more time in their homes, the emphasis is on creating spaces that feel warm and inviting. Shaw described Aegean Teal as a balanced and soothing hue, featuring a touch of grey that contributes to a casual elegance within interiors. She further noted that the Colour Trend palette, with its earthy tones and rich neutrals, is intended to promote a sense of wellbeing and emotional comfort. Homes are increasingly functioning as flexible and multifunctional spaces, and this palette is designed to align with these evolving needs.
Shaw elaborated on the aesthetic qualities of the 12 colors in the palette, stating that they possess an organic synergy. She drew comparisons to images such as faded rumpled linen sheets in the morning and perfectly ripened fruits on a windowsill, illustrating the natural and comforting feel these colors are meant to evoke. The overarching goal of these colors is to enhance the sense of home, encouraging residents to settle in and connect with their living spaces. For individuals planning redecorations in 2021, the article suggests considering these colors to foster wellbeing, tranquility, and balance within their homes.
