All The Living Room Trends To Look Out For In 2025

The article outlines anticipated living room trends for 2025, drawing insights from interior design experts. These trends suggest a shift towards natural, comfortable, and personalized spaces, moving away from hyper-minimalism. One prominent trend is the adoption of earthy tones. These include mossy greens, muddy browns, and soft terracottas, which are expected to create warm and grounded living environments. Alex Bridgman, CEO of Bridgman Furniture, notes that classic earthy greens will remain popular, complemented by browns and mustard tones to introduce more color. Claire Garner, director of Claire Garner Design Studio, highlights the layering of washed terracottas, fresh greens, and laundered linen tones, which are then combined with vivid velvets and printed cottons to create a refreshing contrast. Another emerging trend is “double drenching,” a more nuanced approach to color drenching. This involves using two or more colors within the same palette to paint an entire interior, including ceilings and skirting boards, thereby adding depth through subtle tonal differences. Michael Rolland, managing director at The Paint Shed, explains that this method dramatically breaks from the tradition of white ceilings and skirting. Becca Stern, co-founder of Mustard Made, suggests combinations such as coral red with salmon pink, or cobalt with teal. Raw, natural materials are also expected to take center stage, emphasizing a cozy minimalist style. Matt Phillips, head of UK Operations at Rotpunkt, predicts a focus on quality raw materials, including a mix of dark and light hardwood timbers like natural walnut and oak. This trend is closely linked to biophilic design, which aims to bring the outdoors inside. Elaine Penhaul, director of Lemon and Lime Interiors, notes that reclaimed wooden furniture, carved surfaces, outdoor ceramics, and even indoor trees are becoming integral to this aesthetic, with seating arranged to face windows and natural light. Helen Lord, founder of rehome.co.uk, advises incorporating rattan, cane, wicker furniture, stone coffee tables, and organic wool or jute rugs to create a tactile and calming atmosphere, recommending thoughtful layering of these materials and accessories like clay vases and handwoven throws. Curated clutter is also gaining popularity, moving away from minimalistic luxury. This trend, inspired by the “frazzled English woman” aesthetic on TikTok, involves integrating mix-matched and nostalgic items to create a sense of homeliness and comfort. Experts from Unique Homestays suggest that lining shelves and dressers with treasured items encourages functionality and ease. Monika Puccio, an interiors expert at Sofa Club, explains that layering elements like trinkets, plants, blankets, and candles can soften harsh lines and reduce a room's boxy feel, making the space appear more structured and inviting. Curves and waves continue to be in vogue for 2025. Scalloped edges, frills, and wavy lines, particularly in furniture, contribute to a softer, more relaxed, and romantic feel in a room, according to Elaine Penhaul. This trend extends beyond sofas to include side tables, contemporary chairs, and coffee tables, all of which create a sense of movement and visual appeal. Finally, vintage furniture is making a significant comeback, with a particular focus on 1970s styles. Martin Waller, founder of Andrew Martin, states that vintage and collectible accessories add “eternal quirk” and bring depth, personality, and soul to a space. Elaine Penhaul highlights the versatility of this trend, encouraging the use of existing pieces or sourcing items from antique sellers and resale platforms. The laidback and fun aesthetic of '70s interior design allows for experimentation with abstract designs, natural materials, and flowing shapes in rich colors. #LivingRoomTrends #InteriorDesign #EarthyTones #DoubleDrenching #RawMaterials #BiophilicDesign #CuratedClutter #VintageFurniture #CurvedFurniture #HomeDecor #LivingRoomTrends #InteriorDesign #EarthyTones #DoubleDrenching #RawMaterials #BiophilicDesign #CuratedClutter #VintageFurniture #CurvedFurniture #HomeDecor
