Cesar's Tangram kitchen island aims to introduce "concept of sinuosity to kitchen design"

Cesar, a kitchen brand, has launched a customizable kitchen island named Tangram, designed by the studio Garcia Cumini. This new product draws inspiration from the ancient Chinese game of geometric shapes, allowing for a multitude of configurations by combining both curved and straight elements. The core idea behind Tangram is to inject a sense of sinuosity and fluidity into kitchen design, moving away from traditional linear forms. The Tangram kitchen island is versatile, designed to function as a standalone island, be placed against a wall, or even wrap around challenging architectural corners. Its comprehensive features include a built-in sink, a tap, a hob, a storage cabinet, and a dedicated breakfast area, making it a highly functional piece within the kitchen space. The design prioritizes adaptability to user needs; for example, certain circular surfaces are designed to be smaller in specific areas to optimize space and facilitate movement around the island. Cesar highlights that the eccentric shapes of Tangram are not merely simple semicircles or partial circles but rather incorporate soft and variable radii. This design choice contributes to its unique aesthetic and practical benefits, such as making the unit less intrusive in tighter spaces. The cabinet doors of the Tangram island are available with Cesar's signature Oi and Accento handles, which are engineered to seamlessly integrate into the three-dimensional grooves of the doors. Additionally, customers can request a special decorative detail for the cabinet door. An element called Groove, characterized by an irregularly patterned sequence of vertical incisions, can be added. This feature serves a dual purpose: it enhances the aesthetic appeal and cleverly conceals the joint between modules, promoting a unified visual perception of the entire arrangement. The cabinet itself is offered in both a wall-mounted version and a two-faced iteration, broadening its applicability beyond the kitchen to other areas like the living room or dining room. Garcia Cumini, the design studio behind Tangram, expressed that the project allowed them to extend their design philosophy into the kitchen realm. They emphasized the successful introduction of fluidity and dynamism, qualities not commonly found in conventional kitchen designs. The studio acknowledged the technical challenge of softening contours within an industrial system but noted Cesar's willingness to embrace such challenges, resulting in innovative modules. The Tangram collection is presented as a testament to modern kitchen design, emphasizing customization, functional integration, and a unique aesthetic derived from geometric flexibility. #KitchenDesign #KitchenIsland #Cesar #GarciaCumini #ModularDesign #InteriorDesign #HomeFurnishings #ProductDesign #KitchenDesign #KitchenIsland #Cesar #GarciaCumini #ModularDesign #InteriorDesign #HomeFurnishings #ProductDesign
