Zen, Contemporary Rooms at the Marriott City Center
The Marriott City Center has introduced new Stay Well rooms, aiming to provide a distinct departure from the typical hotel experience by integrating minimalist design and wellness-focused features. These rooms differentiate themselves through a focus on natural elements, contemporary aesthetics, and smart layouts, combined with unique amenities designed to enhance guest comfort and well-being.
Upon entering a Stay Well room, guests are greeted with an immediate sense of calm attributed to the intentional incorporation of natural elements. The furniture largely consists of wooden pieces, and the color palette is predominantly neutral, avoiding bright, overwhelming hues. The walls feature a sandy tone with subtle texture, moving away from conventional wallpapers or extensive artwork. This design choice contributes to a visually uncluttered and serene environment.
Complementing the natural theme, the furniture in the Stay Well rooms exhibits a modern and sleek design. The style prioritizes sharp edges and clean lines, with dominant square and rectangular shapes evident in items such as nightstands, open-shelved closets, and wall paneling. This contemporary approach ensures a consistent and mature aesthetic throughout the room, steering clear of vintage or traditional styles often found in other accommodations.
Layout efficiency is a key aspect of these rooms, employing a minimalist design to prevent visual clutter from bulky furniture. A notable feature is a long, cushioned couch positioned along the window, accompanied by a small, round table. This arrangement provides a comfortable space for dining or relaxation within the room, minimizing the need to use the bed for meals. The furniture is also typically attached to the ground, facilitating easier movement and preventing items from being misplaced underneath.
Beyond the aesthetic and structural elements, the Stay Well rooms offer several innovative amenities. An air purifier and aromatherapy system ensure a fresh and pleasant atmosphere, eliminating common stale hotel room odors. The lighting system includes mood settings such as Circadian, Relax, Energize, and Play, allowing guests to customize the ambiance. A subtle light glows from the bed's base when a guest gets up during the night, designed to aid navigation without disturbing others. Further wellness features include a Vitamin C-infused shower head and a dawn simulator light, intended to promote a natural awakening process.
These rooms aim to blend natural aesthetics with contemporary, minimalist design, creating a calming environment that transcends the typical chain hotel feel. The integrated lighting and air quality features serve functional purposes, supporting guest well-being. The Charlotte Marriott City Center offers 22 such rooms, with similar initiatives implemented at other Marriott properties, including the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Richmond Marriott Short Pump, and the Residence Inn and Courtyard Orlando Lake Nona. The Stay Well rooms cater to individuals seeking a healthy lifestyle on the road or a distinct hotel experience.
