Aura Residence- Snowmass Base Village Colorado
Aura, a collection of 21 private residences in Snowmass Base Village, establishes new benchmarks for responsible mountain living. These luxury accommodations, located along the Assay Hill ski trail, offer an unparalleled blend of biophilic design, all-electric systems, and mass timber construction. The project is positioned as the next evolution in high-end living experiences.
Andy Gunion, managing partner for Snowmass and the Roaring Fork Valley at East West Partners, highlights Aura as a unique development that integrates health, sustainability, and luxury. He emphasizes that these residences are not only comfortable to inhabit but also represent a commendable choice in homeownership. The design, executed by Denver-based firms 4240 Architecture and interior design studio River + Lime, showcases both overt and subtle appeals. 4240 Architecture also contributed to One Snowmass in SBV, and both firms are involved in the Electric Pass Lodge project.
The exterior of Aura features visually striking mass timber construction, which also serves sustainability goals by producing lower carbon emissions compared to steel or concrete, while helping the five-story building blend with its natural surroundings. Biophilic design elements, such as large operable window walls and expansive terraces, maximize natural light indoors and foster a connection to the outdoor environment. Inside, wood ceilings, beams, and columns further enhance this connection and contribute to a calming aesthetic.
The entire building operates on 100 percent renewable energy, primarily sourced through Holy Cross Energy’s PuRE program, effectively mitigating carbon emissions. The project is actively pursuing LEED Gold Certification. Each residence is designed to emulate a single-family home, offering four- and five-bedroom layouts. One bedroom in each unit is designated as a flexible space, allowing for customization into an office, media room, or game room. While the residences are sold unfurnished, local designer recommendations are provided to owners.
Ownership benefits extend to a range of amenities, including ski lockers, concierge service, an indoor-outdoor Aura Lounge, and a private outdoor retreat called the Aura Grotto. The completion of the project is scheduled for summer 2024, with prices ranging from $8 million to $12 million. Aura represents a forward-thinking approach to luxury mountain living, combining environmental responsibility with high-end comfort and design in the Aspen area.
