These 3 Gorgeous Italian Kitchens Are The Stuff of Dreams
Officine Gullo, a family-owned kitchen design company based in Florence, Italy, has been creating bespoke kitchens for over 30 years, blending traditional Florentine cooking methods with innovative technology. The company specializes in metal kitchens, a style that emerged with the steel industry in the early 1900s. Artisans at local Tuscan mechanical workshops meticulously craft metals such as burnished copper, cast iron, steel, and brass, elevating kitchen appliances to an art form. These custom kitchens feature high-power burners reaching up to 10 kilowatts (34,000 BTUs) and lava stone grills, combining craftsmanship with advanced engineering.
The article highlights three distinctive Officine Gullo kitchens, each anchored by their Professional Cooking Ranges. The first, located in a historic villa near San Gimignano, is a "Tuscan Country Chic" space housed in a former oil mill. This kitchen contrasts pearl white against stone walls and a vaulted red brick ceiling. Manfredi Conforzi, commercial director of Officine Gullo, notes that the room's structure influenced its design. The kitchen is divided into three zones: a cooking and preparation area with an island wash zone, a linear cookspace featuring an electric fry top, a professional electric oven, and an induction cooktop, all topped with a burnished brass panel and a dome-shaped extraction hood. The central zone contains custom double-depth pantries for flatware and homemade preserves. The third area includes two professional wine fridges with a central, extractable column for glassware. All elements are made of pearl powder-coated stainless steel with burnished brass accents, creating a refined yet rustic aesthetic.
The second featured kitchen is a "Color-Splashed Luxury" design in Tenuta Carleone, a farmstead-turned-luxury hospitality venue in Chianti. Inspired by the rural surroundings, Officine Gullo designed this kitchen for Austrian entrepreneur Karl Egger, who desired a unique style for hosting guests. The design harmoniously combines warm sunflower-yellow cabinetry with stainless-steel appliances and polished chrome hardware. The kitchen's ambiance is enhanced by natural light filtering through arched windows. Artistic details include a tile backsplash and a range hood engraved with the family crest. The central appliance is an OG Professional cooking range, equipped with a dual-zone induction stove, four burners, an electric grill, and two multifunction ovens.
The third kitchen, described as "Edgy Artistic Elegance," was designed for art collectors in a Venetian villa. This space reflects the owners' personalities and seamlessly connects to an outdoor dining terrace and the living room. Officine Gullo created a custom single-block island with generous steel worktops, promoting socializing and shared meal preparation. The kitchen features professional-grade cooking equipment, including a smooth fry top, a four-burner cooktop, a central *coup de feu* (multi-function simmer plate), and an electric pasta cooker. The pearl beige appliances, finished with powder-coated steel and solid brass and brushed nickel details, complement the rustic antique teak floorboards and warm interior shades, creating an elegant and welcoming environment integrated with the rest of the home.
