Hattie Collins’s colorful combination of yellow striped fabric, dusty green tile and coral linen drapery

In this installment of "What I Love," New Orleans-based designer Hattie Collins of Hattie Sparks Interiors shares a mood board reflecting her current inspirations. Collins is known for her fluid design approach, integrating tactile materials and inviting color palettes to craft spaces that are warm, relaxed, and sophisticated. Her featured flat lay exemplifies this style, presenting a vibrant yet earthy selection of materials and finishes that evoke a natural, soothing ambiance. The mood board showcases a deliberate blend of rich earth tones, such as goldenrod, rust, and various greens, alongside raw finishes, creating a connection to the outdoors. Collins highlights her preference for natural elements, noting her attraction to greens, yellows, and rusts, complemented by graphic and sculptural touches. While color is a dominant theme in her design scheme, she strategically incorporates neutral items. These neutrals serve to ground the palette, preventing it from becoming overly heavy or severe, while still maintaining an element of quirkiness and allowing for interesting layering. Collins provides a detailed breakdown of each component in her mood board. This includes Casa Branca’s Cestino fabric in Coral, which she appreciates for its subtle yet graphic take on traditional ikat. For flooring, she features Clé Tile’s Antique Terracotta Hex Floor Tile in Provincial Red, noting its durability for high-traffic areas and the charm of its natural patina, reminiscent of her own home renovation experiences. Wallpapers include Zak+Fox’s Orangerie wallpaper, praised for its intricate details like bumblebees, oranges, and blooming flowers, suggested for a bathroom, and House of Hackney’s Pluma wallpaper in Eau de Nil, previously used in her own home entrance for its elegant statement and impactful scale despite muted tones. Fabric selections extend to Rebecca Atwood’s Market Stripe fabric in Goldenrod, valued for its simplicity and the appealing goldenrod and cream combination, and St. Frank’s Blush Daisy Suzani fabric, which Collins envisions for a headboard or armchair due to its blend of blush, yellow, and deep purple tones. Another fabric, Zak+Fox’s Mosu, is described as soft and luxurious, ideal for a cozy reading chair. For outdoor applications, she features Liberty’s Persian Voyage Jacquard Outdoor Fabric in Lacquer, challenging the notion that outdoor fabrics must be mundane. Tile choices continue with Clé Tile’s Modern Farmhouse Brick Tile in Bronze Gloss, suggested for a bar backsplash to add a luxurious yet rustic shine, and their Belgian Reproduction Terracotta Star + Cross Tile in Flemish Black, highlighted for its unexpected shape and compatibility with creamy white or dusty green kitchen cabinets. Collins also notes Clé Tile’s Cement Tile in White and Ru for a checkerboard effect. Drapery is represented by Wovn Home’s Coral linen fabric, which she is eager to incorporate into an upcoming project. Paint is Farrow & Ball’s Card Room Green, her go-to green for various rooms and cabinetry. Finally, accent pieces include Shandell’s Marble Matches, reflecting her current interest in marbling, and Fleur Home’s Muses Trim, a local New Orleans product that adds memorable moments to a room. This comprehensive selection showcases Collins's thoughtful approach to creating dynamic and inviting interiors. #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #ColorPalette #TextileDesign #TileDesign #Wallpaper #MoodBoard #HattieCollins #DesignInspiration #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #ColorPalette #TextileDesign #TileDesign #Wallpaper #MoodBoard #HattieCollins #DesignInspiration
