John Lewis has launched a genius new spin on flatpack furniture that is '10 times faster' to build
John Lewis has introduced a revolutionary self-assembly furniture range called Easy Klix, designed to simplify the often-frustrating process of assembling flatpack items. This new line aims to eliminate complicated instructions, fiddly screws, and the need for an Allen key by utilizing a 'Threespine click furniture technology.' The brand claims that the Easy Klix pieces can be assembled up to 10 times quicker than traditional self-assembly methods, a significant improvement for consumers.
The core innovation of the Easy Klix range lies in its ability to be effortlessly clicked together and, crucially, unclicked for disassembly. This feature addresses a common challenge for renters or individuals who frequently move, allowing furniture to be packed away and reassembled multiple times without incurring damage. Nicola Waller, Head of Home Furnishings at John Lewis, highlights this benefit, stating that the collection, which includes wardrobes, sideboards, and coffee tables, is ideal for renters due to its easy and quick pack-down capability.
The Easy Klix collection is divided into two distinct styles: Sherbrook, offering a sleek and modern aesthetic suitable for contemporary living spaces, and Harllson, which presents a more playful, mid-century feel. The range comprises 19 essential furniture pieces, such as wardrobes, drawers, bedside tables, and coffee tables. These items are characterized by their elegant and neutral designs, making them adaptable to various interior styles.
While the starting price of £139 for a bedside table might appear higher than other flatpack brands, John Lewis emphasizes the quality of materials used. The furniture is constructed from solid wood, differentiating it from products made with particle board. This commitment to durability suggests that the Easy Klix range is built to last and to withstand multiple moves, offering a more long-term investment compared to typical flatpack options. Pieces like the Sherbrooke small sideboard, with its recessed handles and tapered legs, exemplify the thoughtful design and quality of the collection.
The Easy Klix range is currently available for pre-order online, with in-store availability scheduled for mid-March. The introduction of this innovative furniture line by John Lewis marks a significant advancement in the flatpack market, promising a much-improved user experience through faster assembly, easy disassembly, and enhanced durability.
