Poke wall light by Daniel Emma for Jam
JamFactory, an Australian craft organization, has unveiled its new collection called Jam, featuring furniture, lighting, and objects that embody a "uniquely Australian" aesthetic. Among the standout pieces is the Poke wall light, a collaborative design with Adelaide-based studio Daniel Emma. This lighting fixture is characterized by its innovative and playful design, intended to inject a "pop of fun and colour" into interior spaces.
The Poke wall light is meticulously crafted from blown glass in JamFactory's dedicated glass studio located in Adelaide, Australia. Each lamp features an organically shaped spherical glass component, available in two distinct color options: a warm, rosy Apricot or a subtle, greyish Tourmaline. A small cylindrical frosted diffuser is integrated into the center of the sphere, allowing for a soft and diffused light output. The freeform blowing technique used in its creation ensures that each glass sphere possesses a slightly wobbly and unique shape, emphasizing the handmade quality of the product. This inherent variation means that no two Poke lights are exactly alike, adding to their individual charm.
The subtle differences in each lamp are particularly accentuated when multiple Poke lights are arranged together. This makes them ideal for installation in various settings, such as along a hallway, above a dining table, or as a pair flanking a bedhead, where their collective presence creates an engaging visual rhythm and enhanced decorative effect. The Poke wall light is offered with a choice of either a frosted or a clear glass finish, providing versatility to suit different lighting preferences and interior design schemes.
Despite its distinctive and whimsical elements, the overall design of the Poke wall light remains minimalist. This characteristic allows it to seamlessly integrate into a broad spectrum of interior decors, complementing both classic and contemporary styles without overpowering the existing aesthetic. Its simplicity ensures it can enhance a space while still drawing attention with its unique form and material.
JamFactory, the organization behind the Jam collection, operates four specialized studios in South Australia, focusing on ceramics, glass, furniture, and jewellery and metalwork. In addition to its production facilities, JamFactory also maintains exhibition and retail spaces, offering a platform to showcase its creations and those of its collaborating designers. The Poke wall light exemplifies JamFactory's commitment to supporting Australian design and craftsmanship, bringing original and high-quality pieces to the design market.
