9 Colour Palettes Inspired By Milan Design Week 2025
The Dulux and Australian House & Garden teams recently traveled to Italy, specifically Milan Design Week 2025, to identify and interpret the latest color trends shaping interior design for the upcoming year. The event, a significant global design showcase, highlighted a strong resurgence of color in interiors, moving beyond monochromatic or neutral schemes.
Nine distinct color palettes emerged from the observations, offering a comprehensive guide for homeowners and designers. These palettes aim to inspire and inform color choices, catering to various aesthetic preferences, from bold statements to subtle, calming environments. Each palette is accompanied by specific Dulux paint suggestions, allowing for easy implementation.
**Bronze Icon** introduces a sense of grounded opulence with rich, nature-inspired hues like velvety olives, chocolate browns, and warm golds. This palette is designed to create elegant and sophisticated spaces, particularly suitable for living rooms and entertaining areas, evoking comfort and refinement. Suggested Dulux colors include Shallot Leaf, Spinach Green, and Ecology Green.
**Gold Rush** focuses on infusing interiors with sunshine tones to bring joy and upliftment. The spectrum ranges from zesty yellows to rich honey and dandelion shades, capitalizing on the enduring popularity of butter yellow. This palette is ideal for adding a dose of vibrancy and positive energy to any design scheme. Dulux recommendations are Species, Wiggle, and Dandelion Yellow.
**Pensive Quarter** offers a soothing combination of subtle mauve, blush, and ivory. This palette is designed for intimate zones such as bedrooms or quiet corners, promoting a calming and restful atmosphere. The addition of tactile finishes like marble, linen, and warm timber, or contemporary stainless steel accents, can enhance its depth. Suggested Dulux colors include Tip Toes Half, Bay Fog, and Whisper White.
**Chocolate Souffle** embraces the comeback of earthy browns, renowned for their versatility, warmth, and ability to add layered sophistication. This palette includes rich caramels, soft camels, and cinnamon tones, as well as deeper bitter chocolate shades, which pair well with fluffy textiles, marble, and woodgrains, suiting diverse interior styles. Dulux offers Guitar, Braid, and Passionate Blue for this palette.
**Warm Nutmeg** is a spiced monochrome palette that emphasizes layered luxury through both paint colors and timeless materials. While less overtly vibrant, it creates a significant impact. Materials such as burl wood, earthenware, velour, and leather accents complement this palette effectively. Dulux suggestions are Caramel Sundae, Camel Hide, and Yardbird.
**Symphony Red** signifies the resurgence of vibrant, chili-toned crimsons, aiming to liven up spaces. Whether used boldly or subtly, red can add a fiery touch to interiors. Milan Design Week 2025 showcased designers and brands incorporating this intense hue, suggesting its use in splashes through cushions, artworks, or feature decor for a less committed approach. Dulux Red Box, Red Terra, and Bright Delight are recommended.
**Ceylon Tea** aims to evoke warmth and nostalgia through harmonious muted colors. Inspired by mid-century designs, this palette features taupe, fawn, and mocha, all contributing to an aesthetic character. Suggested Dulux colors are Baton, Coffee Dush, and Bedbox.
**Natural White** continues the trend of forest-inspired palettes, focusing on a restful and calming atmosphere. This scheme combines a warm white base with terracotta and browny-green accents, drawing inspiration directly from nature. Dulux Clay Court, Lush Hosta, and White Duck are ideal choices.
**Sapphire Stone** presents a sophisticated yet soothing base with dusty deep blues. This classic blue and white pairing evokes a Hamptons sensibility, especially when complemented by stripes, brass, and hydrangea-cobalt accents, bringing coastal calm to any room. This palette was notably featured at the Ralph Lauren boutique in Milan.
