Burgundy kitchens, bold backsplashes, and rustic bathrooms named amongst 2025 home interior trends

As 2025 approaches, there is a growing demand for luxurious and personalized living spaces, with kitchens and bathrooms being key areas for homeowners undergoing remodeling. Mike Whitfield, a luxury interior expert at LUSSO, has identified the emerging trends set to dominate these spaces next year. These trends indicate a shift towards more expressive, natural, and wellness-focused designs. Bold backsplashes are anticipated to become a prominent feature in kitchens, allowing homeowners to make strong visual statements. This trend emphasizes intricate patterns, diverse materials, and bold colors, transforming backsplashes into focal points that enhance both functionality and aesthetics. Whitfield notes that colors like green and pink will be popular, incorporated through various mosaic tiles such as kit kat, metro, baton, and linear designs, arranged in patterns like herringbone and brick bond to add visual interest. Earthy kitchens are also gaining significant traction, driven by a desire for sustainability, comfort, and wellness in home design. Google searches for "olive green kitchen" indicate a high level of interest in this aesthetic. The approach involves creating warm, inviting, and organic spaces that highlight natural materials and a connection to nature. Earthy color palettes include warm neutrals like taupe, beige, and soft browns, as well as sage and olive greens. For a deeper, more sophisticated feel, rich blues and charcoal greys can be used, particularly when complemented by metal accents. LUSSO has seen a 28% increase in sales of its Cullinan Gunmetal Black Undermount Workstation Sink, which Whitfield attributes to its seamless fit with earthy color schemes, as its muted tones and warm undertones of stainless steel harmonize with organic textures like wood and stone. Burgundy kitchens are another emerging trend, with Pinterest searches for "burgundy kitchen" increasing by approximately 200%. This deep red shade with purplish undertones adds depth and character to kitchens and can be incorporated through tiles or cabinetry. Burgundy integrates well with various design styles, including traditional and rustic. An emerging trend involves pairing burgundy with aged bronze accents, which combine warm tones with sophisticated metallic finishes, enhancing the richness of the color and bringing metallic elements to the forefront. Rustic bathrooms are evolving to blend timeless charm with modern innovations. Reclaimed wood is increasingly featured in vanity units, shelves, and bath accessories like caddies, exemplified by a 66% increase in sales of LUSSO’s Bali Acacia Wood Bath Caddy Shelf since its April 2024 launch. To make rustic bathrooms stand out, metal accents are crucial. Whitfield suggests that matte black accents create a striking balance with rustic elements, introducing a modern flair. Black hooks, towel bars, and shelving can accentuate exposed wooden beams or brick walls, enhancing the rustic aesthetic. Wellness-centric bathrooms are becoming highly sought after, as homeowners aim to transform these spaces into personal sanctuaries for relaxation and mindfulness. This trend, highlighted by Houzz’s 2023 State of the Global Home Report, involves integrating spa-like amenities and calming aesthetics, such as stone baths and tranquil colors like seafoam and terracotta. Stone baths are noted for their heat retention and natural texture, which promote relaxation and a connection to nature. Calming color schemes, aromatherapy, and sound systems further enhance the serene atmosphere. Small full bathrooms are experiencing a surge in demand, with Pinterest searches for "small full bathroom idea" up by 6,500% year-on-year. This trend caters to homeowners with compact spaces seeking inspiration to maximize functionality without compromising quality. Whitfield recommends shower niches for visual interest and essential storage, and stone basins for a complete look. Wall-hung designs create the illusion of more space, while compact bathtubs can add a cozy touch. Light colors, such as white, are crucial for enhancing space perception, reflecting light, and making smaller bathrooms feel brighter and more open. Luxe marble bathrooms continue to be a dominant trend in high-end design, celebrated for their natural beauty and durability. Marble enhances a bathroom's visual appeal and significantly increases property value due to its unique characteristics; each piece, especially those crafted from a single block, is distinct. Whitfield explains that marble’s timeless appeal ensures its status as a symbol of luxury in 2025. It can be integrated through basins, natural stone baths, vanity units, and tiles. Precious marbles like Tiffany, Rosa Norwegian, and Jade Green, with their intricate veining and distinct color variations, create a statement of luxury. LUSSO recently collaborated with David Gandy on his family home renovation, where he incorporated a luxe marble bathroom using a Vernante Arabescato marble vanity unit and a Luxe Brushed Gold Floor Standing Bath Tap. #InteriorDesign #HomeTrends2025 #KitchenDesign #BathroomDesign #LuxuryInteriors #EarthyTones #BurgundyKitchens #MarbleBathrooms #WellnessBathrooms #InteriorDesign #HomeTrends2025 #KitchenDesign #BathroomDesign #LuxuryInteriors #EarthyTones #BurgundyKitchens #MarbleBathrooms #WellnessBathrooms
