10 tricks to make your bathroom look and feel bigger, according to interior designers

Small bathrooms can often feel cramped and unwelcoming, but interior designers offer practical solutions to create the illusion of a larger, more inviting space. A primary recommendation is to declutter bathroom counters, aiming to use no more than one-third of the available counter space. This simple act can significantly open up the area. Similarly, maintaining an organized shower, perhaps by utilizing shower caddies or shelves, prevents visual clutter that can make the space feel smaller. If storage under the vanity is available, items can be discreetly stowed away. To draw the eye upward and enhance the perception of height, interior designers suggest hanging shower curtains higher than the showerhead, approximately a foot above, to create a grander appearance. Incorporating a piece of artwork can also serve this purpose, adding visual interest and elevating the room's design without contributing to clutter. Natural light plays a crucial role in expanding a small space; maximizing its entry by keeping windows clear and considering alternatives to heavy curtains, such as frosted glass or Roman shades, can create depth and a more open feel. The color of the walls also impacts spatial perception. Painting walls white or using white tiles can make the room appear larger, contrasting with bright colors or busy wallpaper, which tend to make a space feel more confined. Maximizing hidden storage, such as the area under the sink, is essential for stowing away bathroom necessities. For items that need to be accessible, stylish baskets can be used to keep them out of direct sight. Strategic use of mirrors is another effective technique. Hanging a large mirror not only creates the illusion of more space but can also serve as a distinctive design element. Instead of bulky storage units that can overcrowd a small bathroom, designers recommend opting for open shelving. Furthermore, building vertically, rather than horizontally, is crucial in limited spaces. Utilizing wall shelves and arranging items in decorative jars, trinket trays, or acrylic boxes can provide both functional storage and a decorative display, making the most of the room's height. These design principles, when applied thoughtfully, can transform a tiny bathroom into a comfortable and seemingly spacious retreat. #InteriorDesign #BathroomDesign #SmallSpaceSolutions #HomeDecor #Decluttering #SpaceOptimization #DesignTips #ZenVibe #NaturalLight #InteriorDesign #BathroomDesign #SmallSpaceSolutions #HomeDecor #Decluttering #SpaceOptimization #DesignTips #ZenVibe #NaturalLight
