Lick launches a paint-it-yourself Mindful Wallpaper
Lick has introduced an innovative paint-it-yourself mindful wallpaper, accompanied by a calming color palette, designed to foster a soothing and nurturing home environment. This unique product, named Mindful 01 wallpaper, draws inspiration from biophilic design principles and aims to harness the therapeutic benefits of color and painting. The wallpaper is presented as an escape from daily stressors, promoting stress reduction, enhanced creativity, and improved mood. Its design, featuring botanical motifs, is intended to bring elements of the outdoors indoors, making it suitable for various spaces such as bathrooms or as a focal point on a feature wall.
The launch of this mindful wallpaper and its coordinating color palette coincides with new research highlighting the increasing anxiety levels among Brits, with over a third reporting higher anxiety now compared to pre-pandemic times. The research indicates that 60 percent of individuals feel their mood is significantly influenced by their environment, and nearly 39 percent experience difficulty in relaxing. However, the study also reveals the positive impact of nature on mental well-being, with 69 percent of Brits finding outdoor spaces beneficial. Furthermore, more than 57 percent report that nature-inspired colors, such as blues and greens, have a calming effect.
In collaboration with the mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), Lick's initiative emphasizes the psychological benefits of nature. Tash Bradley, Colour Psychologist and Lick's Director of Interior Design, explains that green instantly calms as the eyes do not need to adjust to it, creating a zen atmosphere. Blue, associated with the sky and happy days, is described as a color of the mind that aids relaxation. Bradley also suggests that incorporating pink, known for its comforting qualities, would further enhance the soothing effect of the design. The accompanying color palette features six coordinating shades, carefully selected to maximize these psychological benefits.
Simon Gunning, CEO at CALM, underscores the value of creative activities like painting, noting their ability to provide satisfaction, unwind the mind, and offer a respite from life's pressures. The partnership between Lick and CALM aims to empower individuals with tools to engage in conversations about mental well-being and proactively manage their mental health before reaching a crisis point. The Lick x CALM wallpaper, priced at £75 per roll, will be available on Lick.co.uk, with all profits dedicated to supporting CALM's mission.
