Import and update products with a spreadsheet#

Download a category template, fill in your products and upload it in the Catalog. This workflow works without writing code or using API credentials.

Before you start#

Select the correct shop in the Dashboard. You need permission to edit its catalog. If the Upload product spreadsheet button is missing, check your shop selection, catalog write permission and whether your account is read-only.

Download the category template#

  1. Open Dashboard → Catalog.
  2. Click Upload product spreadsheet to open the Import products dialog.
  3. Under Choose product category, select the category you want to import. The options depend on your shop configuration.
  4. Click Download Excel template. Use a separate template and upload for each category.

Download a fresh template when preparing a new import so its columns match the current category requirements. The downloaded workbook is a template, not an export of your existing catalog.

Fill in the workbook#

Use the workbook's worksheets as follows:

WorksheetPurpose
ProductsEnter your actual product data starting at row 2. Keep the first row of field names unchanged.
InstructionsRead the required fields, dimensions and category-specific rules.
EnumsLook up the accepted values for fields such as status and dimension_unit.
ExamplesConsult valid and invalid examples. Enter your real products in Products, not here.

Each product row needs sku, name, image_url and product_url, plus the required dimensions for its category. Follow the required-field markers and instructions in the downloaded template. Do not translate field names or add unknown or duplicate columns.

  • Keep SKU cells as text so spreadsheet software does not remove leading zeros or change long identifiers. Use one row per SKU; duplicate values in the same file are rejected, including values that differ only in letter case.
  • Use a direct, publicly accessible HTTP or HTTPS image address for image_url; it must work without login, cookies or custom request headers. Put the product detail page address in product_url.
  • Specify dimensions and units using the template instructions. If no unit is given in a dimension or in dimension_unit, the default is in.
  • Choose status from the accepted values in Enums. Leaving it blank defaults to active; set it explicitly when updating products.

Save as .xlsx (recommended). .csv is also accepted if it contains the product header row and data only. Legacy .xls files are not supported. Each file can contain up to 50,000 non-empty product rows and must be no larger than 50 MB.

Upload and check the result#

  1. Return to the import dialog and select the same category as the template.
  2. Under Complete and upload, choose your saved file, then click Start import.
  3. Check Recent imports for the filename, processing status and successful and failed row counts. Submission confirms acceptance; processing continues in the background.
  4. Wait for processing to finish and check for failed rows even if the job shows Completed. Return to Catalog to verify the imported product data and readiness.

If rows fail, click Failure file, inspect the error messages, correct the product data and upload the corrected file with the same category. A downloaded failure workbook contains the failed rows and diagnostic columns; those diagnostic columns are ignored on re-upload.

For a temporary processing failure, use Retry when it is offered. Retrying the same job does not edit invalid product data. If the interface says rows need review by support, use Contact support; those rows are not retried automatically.

Update existing products#

To update products, use the same category template and keep each product's existing SKU. Fill in all required fields for each row you include, change the values you want to update, and upload the file again.

  • The same SKU in the same shop updates the existing product. A SKU that does not already exist creates a new product. Changing a SKU in the spreadsheet does not rename the original product.
  • You can upload only the product rows you want to update. Products absent from the file are not deleted, disabled or unpublished.
  • This is not a partial field update: required fields still need values. Do not assume a blank optional cell preserves the previous value. In particular, blank status defaults to active, and missing dimension units default to in.
  • Keep your own completed workbook for future updates. The template download does not include your current product data.

After the job finishes, verify the affected products in Catalog. Successful import alone does not confirm storefront visibility; check product readiness and the SDK launch checklist.

Automate imports instead#

For recurring server-side synchronization, use the Product Import API. Its request fields, limits and partial-update behavior are documented separately from this spreadsheet workflow.
