Wine Gets Pandemic Surge—Here’s The Best Way To Store Your Stockpile

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a significant increase in alcoholic beverage sales, with wine sales notably surging by nearly 28% in volume and over 30% in dollar value, as reported by the Washington Post and Silicon Valley Bank. This spike is attributed to increased stress and the closure of bars and restaurants, leading many consumers to stock up on wine for home consumption. As a result, proper wine storage at home has become a critical consideration for wine enthusiasts. Traditional wine cellars offer an ideal solution but are often impractical due to space and cost constraints for most individuals. For those seeking a more accessible and immediate solution, high-quality wine refrigerator units are emerging as a popular alternative. These units are designed to replicate the optimal storage conditions of a cellar, protecting wine from detrimental factors such as vibration, light, humidity, and temperature fluctuations, which can significantly alter a wine's intended taste. Many standard undercounter refrigerators or beverage centers, however, do not adequately address these specific wine storage requirements, making specialized wine fridges essential for long-term preservation. Zephyr, a San Francisco-based kitchen appliance manufacturer, has successfully entered the market with its Preserv lineup of wine and beverage refrigerators, experiencing a significant increase in sales. These units are praised for offering high-end features at a more competitive price point compared to luxury brands like Sub-Zero, JennAir, and Miele. Zephyr's models incorporate crucial functionalities such as dual-zone temperature control, which is vital for storing different types of wine at their ideal temperatures (e.g., white wines at 45-50°F and red wines at 55-65°F). Beyond dual-zone capabilities, Zephyr's Preserv units include features like full-extension slide-out wooden racks for easy access and efficient storage, anti-vibration technology to prevent sediment disturbance, an open-door alarm, 3-color LED lighting, and a wide temperature range (34-65°F) suitable for both wine and other beverages. The construction also emphasizes durability and efficiency, utilizing argon gas-filled dual-pane glass doors for insulation, touch controls, carbon air filtration for purity, and 304 stainless steel bodies. Zephyr even offers models specifically designed for outdoor kitchen installations. These models come in various capacities, from units holding 21 bottles of wine and 64 cans to larger ones accommodating up to 138 bottles, with options for custom cabinetry panels and black stainless finishes, providing versatility for different home designs and needs. Though their design center is currently closed, Zephyr products are widely available through national appliance retailers and online platforms like Amazon. #WineStorage #HomeAppliances #ZephyrPreserv #WineRefrigerator #PandemicImpact #InteriorDesign #KitchenDesign #BeverageCoolers #HomeRemodeling #WineStorage #HomeAppliances #ZephyrPreserv #WineRefrigerator #PandemicImpact #InteriorDesign #KitchenDesign #BeverageCoolers #HomeRemodeling
