Budapest's new 5-star hotel invites you to a mystical realm - Hello, Kimpton BEM Budapest!
The Kimpton BEM Budapest, a new 5-star boutique hotel, has opened its doors in the Hungarian capital, marking Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants' first venture in Budapest. Located in a beautifully renovated 19th-century mansion on the Buda side, near Margaret Island, the Castle District, and the Danube, the hotel offers views of the Parliament building. The interior design, spearheaded by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, integrates Hungarian origin myths and folklore, creating an atmosphere that blends eccentric luxury with a whimsical touch.
The hotel features 127 elegantly designed rooms and suites. Marcel Wanders' signature style is evident throughout, from playful elements like upside-down egg installations at reception to unique lamps, vases, ceramics, and rugs. The lobby welcomes guests with a grand golden stag, a direct reference to the Hungarian folklore of the Miracle Stag (Csodaszarvas), which tells the story of the Hungarian people's origins. This woodland theme extends into the guest rooms, contributing to a fairy-tale ambiance. Beyond the terrestrial, the design also incorporates an underwater world motif, inspired by the 'huso,' the beluga sturgeon, a mystical creature of the Danube, giving some rooms and areas an aquatic feel.
Accommodation options include standard rooms with luxurious bedding and walk-in showers, as well as 11 suites featuring freestanding tubs and balconies. The top floor houses the Cosmos and Observatory Suites, which can be combined to offer 120 square meters of space, complete with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a dining room, and a kitchenette. The Observatory Suite boasts an 82-square-meter private rooftop terrace, suitable for private gatherings or stargazing.
Gastronomic offerings at the Kimpton BEM Budapest include AGOS, a woodland-inspired fine bistro serving Mediterranean cuisine with Hungarian influences. Notable dishes include Venison Wellington, Smoky Tuna Carpaccio, Wild Boar Goulash, and the Black Forest dessert. AGOS also provides breakfast, a bottomless brunch on Saturdays, business lunches, and à la carte options. For drinks, Bar Huso, situated at the entrance, offers a selection of Hungarian wines and creative cocktails within a design-led space characterized by deep blue fish-scale tiles. The bar also features a bar menu and hosts live DJ sets on weekends. The hotel's rooftop bar, Fennen, is another highlight, offering a lush garden, a heated glass pavilion, and a terrace for enjoying drinks and Cuban cigars.
Further amenities include a wellness area with a 24/7 fitness center, hot tub, and steam room. The hotel provides various meeting rooms—Turul Chamber, Golden Stag Corner, and M.W. Salon—along with a grand ballroom capable of accommodating up to 120 guests, making it suitable for events. The Kimpton BEM Budapest is also pet-friendly, providing amenities such as pet bed loaners, food and water bowls, mats, and tiny bathrobes for four-legged guests, along with information on nearby pet-friendly attractions.
