Why Designers Can't Get Enough of Benjamin Moore's White Dove Paint

Selecting the right shade of white paint can be a nuanced process, given the extensive range of options available, from cool, bright whites to warm-toned off-whites and various neutrals. Among these, Benjamin Moore’s White Dove stands out as a consistently favored choice among designers due to its versatility and timeless appeal. This soft white hue is described as luminous, making it suitable for a wide array of applications, including moldings, trim, and entire wall surfaces within a room. Designers frequently laud White Dove for its classic, warm characteristics. Natalie Chong, a designer, highlights its status as a perfect, classic warm white. Doty Horn, founding director of ColorVoyant and former director of color and design at Benjamin Moore & Co., further elaborates on its composition, noting its softness, reminiscent of alabaster, with subtle undertones of gray and yellow. Horn emphasizes that this yellow cast contributes significantly to its long-term livability, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with diverse color palettes and styles. Whether paired with maximalist decor or sleek, modern designs, White Dove serves as an adaptable blank slate. The article provides numerous examples of how Benjamin Moore’s White Dove has been effectively utilized in various residential settings. In a Chicago-based living room designed by Caroline Turner, the paint allows decorative elements, such as a large mirror and mantel decor, to become focal points. In a bathroom designed by Sheldon Harte, White Dove walls complement an antique tub and reclaimed marble flooring, enhancing a serene, spa-like atmosphere. Madeleine Stuart employed White Dove in a Los Angeles home to make other features, such as brown-black woodwork and a starry painted ceiling, pop. Elizabeth Pash's main bedroom achieves a bright, airy feel with White Dove walls, reflecting light and harmonizing with Palladian windows. Furthermore, the paint finds application in more specific contexts. Palmer Weiss utilized White Dove in her Sonoma County kitchen to create a calming and quiet space, contrasting with her typically non-minimalist style, pairing it with cabinetry in Benjamin Moore's Grant Beige. In a Nantucket summer home, Elizabeth Georgantas preserved and refreshed cracked beams in a main bedroom by painting them with White Dove, contributing to a lived-in aesthetic. Nestor Santa-Cruz's pool house uses White Dove on the walls to highlight a collection of abstract art. Lisa Stone incorporated the paint into a maximalist Philadelphia kitchen, where it playfully complements custom cabinetry in Benjamin Moore’s California Blue, as well as colorful backsplashes and chair fabrics. White Dove also plays a role in transforming and unifying spaces. Andrea Goldman applied it to a once-kitschy lake house to camouflage unusual architectural features and unify various rooms, demonstrating the transformative power of a simple coat of white paint. In a California home’s kitchen, Clara Jung of Banner Day Interiors used White Dove to achieve a classic and elevated feel. Caitlin Wilson leveraged the paint in a great room to make pastel colors stand out and enhance the room's perceived size. Christine Markatos Lowe chose White Dove for a beachside Malibu cottage, noting its creamy shade balances ocean-reflecting blues and scatters light throughout the home, creating a dazzling effect. Marie Flanigan applied White Dove in a formerly gloomy Mediterranean abode, using it as a backdrop for a large, recessed headboard in the main bedroom. Finally, Andy Beers used White Dove walls in a dining room to provide a neutral surround that highlights large glass doors and windows with scenic views. The paint also coats cabinets in Anelle Gandelman's kitchen, providing a crisp, modern look when combined with marble and quartz, and warmed by brass accents and stained oak. #BenjaminMoore #WhiteDove #PaintColors #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #DesignInspiration #NeutralColors #HomeRenovation #DesignerFavorites #BenjaminMoore #WhiteDove #PaintColors #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #DesignInspiration #NeutralColors #HomeRenovation #DesignerFavorites
