This builder-grade apartment in Bengaluru is transformed into an oasis of Zen

This article explores the transformation of a 2,400-square-foot builder-grade apartment in Bengaluru, located in the Hebbal area, into a serene oasis for a young doctor couple and their son. Designed by Priyanka Khandekar and Shubham Shingate of Studio SP_ACE, the project aimed to blend soothing aesthetics with modern organic influences. The homeowners desired a calm space where natural materials were sculpted into form and clean lines conveyed depth, fostering a sense of balance and contemporary Zen. The apartment's initial state featured beige marble flooring in common areas and oak-toned floors in bedrooms. The design journey commenced with an entry foyer highlighted by a Michelangelo marble slab, fluted details on the lower half, and a central brass patti. These fluting details and warm wood tones extend throughout the apartment, complemented by limestone-textured walls and subtle brass and glass accents, unifying the design theme. An abstract Buddha artwork and a 3D lotus art piece greet visitors, setting a tranquil tone, with neutral marble and green potted plants strategically placed. The living room is framed by a charming balcony and features a striking TV unit composed of layered limestone texture, grey marble, and wooden fluting details, a favorite spot for the homeowners. A clever sliding door in the TV unit provides access to the powder bathroom. Thoughtfully curated lighting enhances the natural light, which shifts moodily throughout the day. The designers incorporated bold black touches to complement the clients’ preferred neutral white and earthy beige palette. The dining area is seamlessly connected to an open puja space, which is subtly partitioned by a custom-made brass jali. The dining table and sideboard are clad in warm beige marble slabs. The kitchen, featuring a sage green hue and a full utility area, includes a heavily veined marble backsplash, an oakwood-toned island matching the floor, and white quartz counters with a unique waterfall detail. Three en-suite bedrooms, including a master bedroom with a private balcony, complete the home. The master bedroom boasts a custom-made headboard that wraps around the bed and side tables, set against limestone walls and custom fabric panels flanking the TV unit. The guest bedroom features a serene mountain-themed mural wallpaper, while the son’s bedroom ceiling is finished in a deep moody blue. Almost all furniture in the apartment was custom-designed by Khandekar and Shingate, prioritizing soft edges and neutral fabrics enhanced with pops of color and warm wood tones to maintain the organic aesthetic. #BengaluruHomes #ApartmentDesign #ModernOrganicStyle #ZenInteriors #NaturalMaterials #CustomFurniture #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #ArchitecturalDesign #BengaluruHomes #ApartmentDesign #ModernOrganicStyle #ZenInteriors #NaturalMaterials #CustomFurniture #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #ArchitecturalDesign
