Paris Déco-Off, held annually in January, serves as a pivotal event in the world of furnishing fabrics, showcasing the latest innovations and trends from leading international producers. The 2024 edition highlighted a distinct return to historical influences, particularly drawing from Belle Époque decorations and classic textile archival damasks. This reinterpretation infuses traditional motifs like millefiori and toile de Jouy with contemporary color palettes, offering a fresh perspective on timeless elegance. The exhibition also demonstrated an increasing exploration of advanced materials, with fine fabrics integrating acrylic to create reflective and shimmering textures reminiscent of sunlit water. Rubelli presented its "Gardens" collection, the first under the creative direction of Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin. This collection features botanical and floral motifs for both indoor and outdoor furnishing fabrics, employing a diverse range of production techniques including jacquards, velvets, satins, and embroidered fabrics. The color palette is characterized by its boldness, brightness, and contemporary appeal, emphasizing a timeless aesthetic. A notable piece, the Millefleurs Evergreen jacquard, is crafted from EVO nylon, an environmentally sustainable yarn derived from castor beans, highlighting durability suitable for intensive use. Liberty Fabrics introduced "Botanical Atlas," a collection inspired by Sir Arthur Lasenby Liberty's late 19th and early 20th-century travels to Japan, China, Persia, and India. This collection continues the botanical theme, depicting rare plants, sculptural leaves, and voluminous flowers through layered embroidery, textured weaves, and printed linens and velvets. Comprising 25 interior fabric designs across 92 variations, the collection is organized into five Liberty color palettes: Lacquer, Jade, Lapis, Pewter, and Lichen. The Butterfield design, a reissue of a 1900 motif by Lindsay Butterfield, showcases a poppy pattern re-envisioned for indoor use in both printed linen and velvet. Métaphores' "Les Bains" collection, designed by Emilie Paralitici, draws inspiration from Art Deco pools, the French Riviera, and ancient spas. This collection celebrates immersion and the vibrant, sunny hues of the Mediterranean. It features geometric patterns mimicking pool tiles, fabrics with shimmering reflections akin to light on water, metallic shades, and sinuous designs evoking ocean waves. The Mozaïque fabric, made from flame-retardant polyester, functions as a voile or light curtain, offering a sunlit mirror-like shimmer and acoustic properties. It is available in four warm tones with a 3D honeycomb weave. Dedar's 2024 collection is an eclectic family exploring several themes. "Plain Classics" includes solid-colored alpaca and cotton velvets, while "Texturologie" focuses on natural tones inspired by forests and rocks, emphasizing material research and production techniques. "Contemporary Archives" continues Dedar's graphic exploration of tiger patterns and shades of white. The Leontigre fabric, a jacquard cotton velvet, depicts a battle between wild felines, where their coats form a new pattern and their eyes and tails transform into ideograms. Pierre Frey's "Carnet de Voyage" collection reinterprets ethnically inspired patterns and materials from diverse global locations, such as Tierra del Fuego and the Dancalia desert. This collection translates the motifs and textures of flora and fauna into patterns, inviting a sense of travel and escapism. Axim, a linen print with large, bright graphic triangles, is a reinterpretation of an archival hand-painted motif from Mali. Maison Lelièvre relaunched Quenin, a textile manufacturer founded in 1865. Ingrid Lager, creative director at Lelièvre, updated Quenin's classic jacquard, print, embroidery, stripe, Indian, and damask repertoires. The revised designs feature oversized motifs and contemporary colors, while retaining the cheerful, carefree, and natural focus associated with the Belle Époque. The Houlgate cotton stripe, a key element of the Belle Époque collection, is presented in 14 colors and numerous combinations. Jakob Schlaepfer's 2024 interior textile collection, "Natural Phenomena," draws inspiration from natural occurrences such as lighting conditions, reflections, and weather. This eccentric collection incorporates layered sequin embroidery, deep prints, 3D appliqués, and doubled dévoré, offering technical and functional benefits like sound insulation, blackout capabilities, and wide fabric widths. The Milla floral border, a print on glossy, textured fabric, provides acoustic properties and features a gradient in various shades. Sahco, under creative director Bengt Thornefors, reinterprets classic motifs from European heritage, specifically Nordic Neoclassicism. The color palette reflects the Nordic landscape, augmented by vibrant accents such as picnic red, apple green, sunset pink, and fundamental black and white. Deedee, made from viscose and acetate, transforms the classic graphic polka dot into a heavyweight drape.
