Marvista Design + Build in Pittsburgh, PA, emphasizes a clean and uncluttered aesthetic in its 2,500-sq.-ft. showroom. Michael Jacobs, the president, designed the finish selection room to be tidy, with samples neatly stored away, preventing clients from feeling overwhelmed. A key feature is the tunable lighting system, designed by a Los Angeles-based expert, which allows designers to adjust the color temperature to match a client's home, thereby eliminating the need for clients to take samples home. The showroom also includes diverse kitchen and bath displays, like a white and gray kitchen for older homes and a 'Posh Prohibition' bar showcasing updated cabinetry for traditional settings. Functional elements such as motorized shelves and paneled appliances are incorporated to inspire clients. The bathroom display, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, features a walnut vanity and unique tile work, serving as a luxurious public restroom.
The Kitchen Bin in Winfield, NY, founded by Debbie U. Pugh, stands out with its unique location inside an old grain bin. This unconventional structure draws in curious visitors, offering a memorable experience. The 1,500-square-foot interior boasts 30-foot ceilings and a curved staircase leading to a loft with flooring and tile samples. Pugh's showroom maximizes product display by showcasing a full kitchen with multiple paint colors, stains, door styles, hardware options, and organizational accessories. An adjacent espresso bar adds to the inviting atmosphere. The presentation room features door samples from various manufacturers, including a local custom cabinet maker, and custom-designed hardware selection boards. Many displays are fully operational, creating a home-like environment where clients can relax by a fireplace, enjoy a cappuccino, and visualize their designs on a large-screen TV. The showroom is designed for potential future use as a guest space or vacation rental, highlighting its versatility.
JM Kitchen & Bath Design, with a 45-year history in the Denver, CO area, opened two new showrooms in Arvada, CO, and Colorado Springs. The 3,500-sq.-ft. Arvada location, situated in a busy outdoor mall, was built from scratch, offering flexibility in designing consultation rooms and working spaces. Jason Price, CEO, noted that the full-sized, fully staged, and equipped displays, including five kitchens, allow visitors to visualize options in a realistic setting. Many displays feature working appliances, enabling the company to host events with chefs, demonstrating functionality in an intimate, no-pressure environment. The showroom presents a diversity of colors, styles, and budget options, from quarter-sawn walnut and metallic acrylic cabinets to natural rustic alder. The emphasis is on forward-thinking design, showcasing both current and future trends. Like Marvista, JM Kitchen & Bath avoids cluttered sample displays, encouraging clients to envision their ideal spaces.
DesignCraft Kitchen & Bath expanded its presence with a new 1,900-sq.-ft. showroom in Brentwood, TN, complementing its Tampa, FL location. Tracy Urso, CFO and interior designer, identified a need for comprehensive remodeling services in the Nashville area, where many homes built 15-20 years ago are due for renovation. The Brentwood showroom features two kitchens with two-tone cabinets and quartz countertops. Urso particularly highlights the bath display, which incorporates a full slab of quartz for an accent shower wall and floating vanity countertop, enhanced by deep black and gold veins. Matte black fixtures and brass accents complement the design. The selection room provides a one-stop-shop experience with cabinetry, hardware, and tile samples, and a large-screen television for real-time design visualization. Urso's office also serves as a display for built-in cabinetry outside of kitchens and bathrooms.
Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath opened a 750-sq.-ft. satellite showroom in Easton, MD, to address a local need for quality kitchen and bath design services, leveraging its established presence in Chevy Chase, MD, and Ashburn, VA. Jennifer Gilmer's personal relocation to Easton prompted the expansion. The compact space focuses on six kitchen displays, as Gilmer believes kitchen cabinets can also be considered for bathrooms. The showroom emphasizes unexpected and atypical design elements, such as a refrigerator, freezer drawers, and a coffee machine integrated into tall cabinetry, which are fully functional and used during events. Unique touches like authentic vintage lights, a reclaimed chestnut countertop, and solid wood live-edge shelves are incorporated to inspire clients and demonstrate the firm's ability to create custom, beautiful kitchens.
