Kasey sanded and stained the timber, mixing various stains to achieve her desired color. To support the shelf, small pieces of leftover timber were attached to either end of the wall. The timber shelf was then secured to the wall using screws drilled diagonally into the wall studs and also into the added end supports. Beyond these major structural changes, several smaller DIY projects contributed to the overall transformation. Old bedside tables were spray-painted black and updated with new bronze handles.
