While the home was largely in good condition, the master bathroom underwent a significant overhaul, a task for which Plachter collaborated with Teknika Design Group in Old City. The clients desired an interior that was both masculine and vibrant, leading Plachter to incorporate bold blue and orange hues, diverse patterns, and striking light fixtures. The dining room features two Robert Abbey Bling chandeliers, positioned above a Bausman dining table to introduce sparkle and compensate for limited natural light. The living room features a focal wall with built-in shelving, a limestone fireplace, and flannel-textured wallpaper, while furniture is artfully mixed to achieve a cohesive yet varied look. The dining room maximizes space and visual interest with a sideboard and a large hutch, reflecting views and offering storage. METROPOLIS has launched a new video series titled "Natural Habitat," which spotlights sustainable homes and their design principles. The inaugural episode features a tour of Evelyn Carr-White's home in Cold Spring, New York. Carr-White, an interior designer and owner of Domicilist, and her family transformed an existing 1980s log cabin into a modern, energy-efficient residence. The project involved enlisting River Architects to expand and renovate the original structure.
