Cosentino’s Ukiyo Surface Collection Introduces Fluted Texture in a New Light

Cosentino, a global leader in innovative and sustainable surfaces, has launched its new Dekton® Ukiyo collection, developed in collaboration with high-end interior and product designer Claudia Afshar. This collection introduces a unique textured, linear fluting that adds tactile quality, depth, and dimension to both residential and commercial spaces. Afshar emphasized the timeless appeal of texture in design, drawing inspiration from natural materials to create comfortable, warm, and authentic environments. She describes Ukiyo as calming yet simplistic, with colorways and fluting that balance romantic and contemporary aesthetics. The Dekton® Ukiyo collection draws inspiration from Japanese and contemporary design philosophies, particularly the concept of "Ukiyo," which signifies living in the moment. The collection aims to engage the senses and foster a sense of wellness and tranquility within a space. Its geometric, smooth structure is designed to create harmonious environments, suitable for both interior and exterior applications. The collection is available in five distinct colorways, offered as durable, ready-to-install fluted tiles, a novel offering in the industry. The five color options include Bromo, a dark gray inspired by slate, featuring subtle faded graphics and a natural, crafted texture. Kreta, reminiscent of cement, offers an even and controlled aesthetic that can influence the lightness or darkness of a space based on its pattern density. Umber is a terracotta hue, providing a warm, textured surface with a natural reddish pigment that adds character. Nacre is a versatile cream shade with fine micro-concrete and lime plastering details. Lastly, Rem presents an intricate design with brown and gray veining accented by hints of gold, reflecting the traditional and linear patterns of Calacatta Lincoln. Dekton® material is notable for being the only cradle-to-grave carbon-neutral solid surface available on the market. Its production process is sustainable, utilizing 99 percent recycled and reused water, 100 percent renewable electric energy, and incorporating recycled materials into its composition.
