6:AM create a spellbinding Murano glass showcase in Milan’s abandoned public shower stalls

The contemporary Murano glass brand, 6:AM, has unveiled its first solo exhibition, 'Two-Fold Silence,' transforming the abandoned public shower stalls beneath Milan’s Piscina Cozzi into a captivating display of Murano glass art. The exhibition, featured during Milan Design Week 2025, showcases an intriguing blend of new works, prototypes, and restored historical pieces, all crafted from Murano glass. Piscina Cozzi, a significant Milanese landmark designed by Luigi Secchi in the 1930s, provided a unique and evocative setting for 6:AM's installation. The building's architecture and history resonated deeply with 6:AM's work, particularly the ex-public showers, which had been closed for over 40 years. By reopening these spaces to the city, the brand aimed to connect with the era that heavily influences their design philosophy. Edoardo Pandolfo and Francesco Palù founded 6:AM in 2018 with the goal of introducing Murano glass to a broader audience. Their collaborative approach with Murano's master artisans spans various creations, including architectural installations, modular lighting, furniture, and sculptural objects. The studio's name, 6:AM, pays homage to the glassmakers who begin firing their furnaces early each morning. The exhibition at Piscina Cozzi created a striking contrast by juxtaposing exquisitely crafted glass pieces against the backdrop of grimy tiles and crumbling walls of the old shower stalls. This setting fostered a sense of mystery and discovery as visitors explored each cubicle. Highlights included a wall-mounted cast Murano glass chandelier, a glass sculpture by Aldo Nason for Mazzega from the 1970s, and other pieces casually arranged to enhance the feeling of accidental encounters with art. Chandeliers strategically placed along the corridors guided visitors through the space, creating luminous columns that drew them deeper into the exhibition. To enrich the visitor experience, Pandolfo and Palù incorporated a soundscape created by Milan-based audiovisual producers Invernomuto, adding a transcendental quality to the environment. The founders emphasized that the space served as an ideal canvas for presenting their creative universe, encompassing past projects, prototypes, new pieces, and their evolving archive. The intention was to keep the space largely untouched, allowing it to interact organically with the artworks. This approach resulted in an exhibition that felt less like a systematically curated display and more like a fluid, conscious flow of objects and ideas within the historic environment. #MuranoGlass #MilanDesignWeek2025 #6AMExhibition #PiscinaCozzi #GlassArt #ItalianDesign #ArtInstallation #DesignInteriors #MilanArtScene #MuranoGlass #MilanDesignWeek2025 #6AMExhibition #PiscinaCozzi #GlassArt #ItalianDesign #ArtInstallation #DesignInteriors #MilanArtScene
