Delish Reveals Their Brand New Test Kitchen and It's Incredible
The article details the recent renovation of the Delish test kitchen and studio kitchens, highlighting design choices and functional features aimed at maximizing efficiency for recipe development and video production. The project was executed with the expertise of interior designer Betsy Wentz and supported by sponsors GE Profile, GoodCook, and The Bar. The design prioritizes a modern, clean, and durable aesthetic, featuring custom cabinetry that ingeniously conceals outlets for appliances, alongside vibrant tile, paint, and colorful light fixtures to enhance visual appeal.
The main commercial test kitchen is designed with two islands to facilitate cooking, prep work, and storage. These neutral-toned islands are accented by shelf back panels painted in Benjamin Moore's Old Glory, adding a vibrant touch. Caesarstone was chosen for the countertops, and Fireclay Tile was used for tiling. The Delish team incorporates technology into their workflow, utilizing an iPad Air for recipe notes. The sink areas in the kitchen feature kite-shaped tiles with dark grout and coral light fixtures from The Urban Electric Co., contributing texture and color to the space.
A notable feature in the kitchen islands is a hidden cutout specifically designed to stash gear, such as a half-height cooling rack that fits perfectly underneath the counter. This emphasizes smart storage solutions within the design. One of the studio kitchens spans 342 square feet and is meticulously arranged to ensure that wall ovens, the range, and the sink are all easily accessible, promoting an efficient workflow. GE Profile appliances are prominently used throughout the kitchen, along with Staub pots.
Further demonstrating thoughtful organization, the kitchen includes divider inserts to keep utensils tidy. A dedicated coffee station shelf complements the blue accents of the kitchen islands, equipped with a GE Profile Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine. The kitchen also features a GE Profile Smart Slide-In Gas Range, noted for its fingerprint-resistant surface. A custom-built pullout spice rack provides convenient access from both sides, showcasing an innovative storage solution.
The article also showcases a built-in bar area, designed for versatility from breakfast to happy hour. This space is adorned with teal tiles and features coral stools from Andreu World. Interior designer Betsy Wentz emphasizes the use of performance fabric on the counter stools, noting its durability and ease of cleaning, addressing common concerns about using fabric in a kitchen environment. The bar is stocked with spirits from The Bar, and the walls are covered with custom wallcovering from The Detroit Wallpaper Co., rounding out the kitchen's comprehensive and stylish overhaul.
