Initially, the couple planned a renovation to accommodate their four children, aged 4 to 13. However, their architect and contractor advised against salvaging the old structure due to previous improper renovations, making a complete rebuild the more practical option. Having lived in numerous houses and with Liz's parents having built custom homes, the Farrars aimed to integrate their favorite elements into their 'forever home'.
