The Block 2025 | Room Reveal Week 6 Rumpus
The Block 2025's Week 6 Rumpus Room Reveal showcased diverse design approaches from the competing couples, with judges evaluating the rooms based on their functionality, aesthetic appeal, and suitability for the Daylesford region. Some teams excelled with well-executed designs, while others faced criticism for incomplete work or mismatched concepts.
Han & Can secured first place with their rumpus/home theatre, praised for its massive TV, sound system, and a comfortable B2C Cloud Nine sectional sofa. The judges, including Marty, Shaynna, and Darren, highlighted the thoughtful upholstery, coffered ceiling, and arches, noting the significant effort put into the room. Darren specifically admired the playful colours, stripes, and artworks, like the Kylie Cuthbertson bird pieces, which harmonized with a neutral palette. Despite the beauty of the Martini Furniture custom wall panels, unfinished paint on a door was a minor flaw in an otherwise highly marketable space.
Emma & Ben achieved second place with their 'colour-drenched' room, where walls, ceilings, and furniture shared the same hue. Darren explained this design trend, acknowledging the room's versatility as a second living area or even an extra bedroom. Shaynna found the room "almost perfect," commending the flooring, artwork, and styling, particularly the ST Sultry candle. The Cooper & Co bookshelf and wooden console table were noted as excellent choices. Her only concern was the lounge's orientation, though she concluded that it functioned well as a relaxing hangout spot.
Sonny & Alicia's deep burgundy, colour-drenched library/rumpus earned them third place. Judges appreciated its potential as a second living area or a quiet retreat. The room embraced a midwestern style, featuring a horse artwork and scalloped Porta Timber details, alongside a large TV and an ottoman for comfort. Shaynna suggested minor improvements like replacing white light fittings and painting the air conditioner grill to achieve near perfection.
Britt & Taz's "wellness centre" came in fourth, surprising Shaynna, who questioned the appropriateness of a gym, complete with two Pilates reformers and a "hydration station" fridge, within a Daylesford house. While the execution, including the draped ceiling, was acknowledged, Marty and Darren shared Shaynna's reservations, suggesting such a space might be better suited for an outdoor shed or pool cabana. The market's reaction to this unconventional choice remains to be seen.
Robby & Mat placed fifth, with their rumpus room described as "forgotten" by Marty. Criticisms included an unfinished floor, wallpaper that didn't suit the area, and impractical furniture arrangement, such as a too-small desk. Darren noted the lack of effort, contrasting it with their usual standards. While a tiled shelf and sofa were deemed pleasant, the absence of finished elements and a proper lighting plan, including feature lights, contributed to a lack of ambiance. The judges concluded that the room essentially required a complete re-do.
