Among the featured works is the **Releaf** device by Sunita Dulabh, a home-based rehabilitation tool for stroke survivors. This leaf-shaped device is designed to improve fine motor skills in hands and fingers through guided, nature-inspired light patterns, promoting dexterity and neuroplasticity. Its intuitive design aims to transform rehabilitation into an engaging and empowering experience, helping users regain confidence and independence at their own pace.
Daniel Roe's **Bookmark End Table** is a mindful reading companion that promotes better sleep. This end table features a warm, touch-activated LED light that avoids disruptive blue light, making late-night reading more relaxing. Its V-shaped lower shelf keeps books visible and accessible, subtly encouraging a calming bedtime routine.
In response to Lebanon's energy crisis, Eli Saghbini developed **Cedar Pod**, a self-contained solar microgrid. Constructed from recycled materials with modular batteries and cloud-connected controls, Cedar Pod offers a sustainable and resilient energy alternative for homes, businesses, and public spaces. It aims to transform renewable energy into community-owned civic infrastructure, addressing energy insecurity.
**Proactive**, designed by Vienna Doria-Pighin and Marzuq Vohra, is a self-inflating vest for individuals with high care needs and sensory sensitivities, particularly those with autism. This award-winning innovation applies deep pressure touch to alleviate sensory overload and includes a system to track and analyze meltdown data, helping anticipate triggers and improve users' and caregivers' quality of life.
Maxwell Sims' **Pin Sconce** is a paper-based wall light inspired by the simple act of pinning paper. It explores how an everyday gesture can make sconce installation intuitive. The half-shade, crafted from a single piece of paper and mounted on thicker paperboard, creates a form that is both flat and dimensional, inviting interaction while maintaining simplicity.
**Water on the Route** by Esteban Poblano-Zenil addresses the critical issue of dehydration among migrants crossing the Darién Gap. This dual-purpose biodegradable brochure functions as both an educational guide and a water filter, infused with copper nanoparticles to eliminate bacteria. Distributed through UNICEF-led workshops, it provides essential tools for survival.
Lauren Peat's **Mirror Mirror**, powered by Pinterest, reimagines fashion discovery. It allows users to curate personal style collections, virtually try on looks, and draw inspiration from their wardrobe or network. This platform combines Pinterest's visual strengths with practical tools like digital closets and virtual try-ons, promoting sustainable shopping practices.
**Mai** by Mostafa Abdelhamid is an interactive fitness system designed to enhance strength and stability. It combines a sensor-embedded mat with a stability-training device, offering real-time feedback for exercises like pushups, planks, and stretches. This system transforms traditional workouts into dynamic and personalized experiences, supporting long-term fitness goals.
Finally, Sahar Niekou's **Baanu** is a cooling bracelet and jewelry box system providing discreet relief from hot flashes during menopause. The bracelet features a hydrogel-based cooling core, while the custom-designed wooden jewelry box houses a pre-chilled metal cylinder. Battery-free and reusable, Baanu blends function with emotional support through interchangeable metal charms, empowering women to manage menopause symptoms with confidence and style.
