Following the shaping of the MDF, the next stage focuses on padding. Two yards of batting are needed. The trimmed MDF is placed on top of the batting, and the padding is cut to size, leaving a 2-inch halo around the perimeter. This excess batting is then folded over the edges of the headboard and pulled taut before being stapled to the back, with staples placed approximately every inch to secure it firmly in place. The third step involves upholstering the headboard with fabric. Two yards of upholstery fabric, specifically Mark Alexander Coda bouclé, were used for this project. The process of applying the fabric mirrors that of the batting: the headboard, already padded, is placed on the fabric, and the fabric is cut, leaving a margin around the edges. To ensure a smooth finish around the curves of the wavy design, small slits are made in the textile before wrapping it around the headboard and stapling it to the back.
