Casa Perfect New York gallery includes David Chipperfield staircase

The Future Perfect, a prominent design gallery, has inaugurated a new exhibition space, Casa Perfect New York, within a five-story townhouse located in New York's West Village. This new outpost expands upon a successful concept first established on the West Coast, aiming to provide an immersive experience for viewing collectible homeware and contemporary designs. David Alhadeff, the founder of The Future Perfect, expressed his immediate desire to replicate the West Coast's Casa Perfect concept in New York upon its success. The core challenge involved identifying a location that could authentically embody The Future Perfect's artistic vision, ultimately leading to the selection of the West Village townhouse. The space is intentionally curated to resemble a lived-in residence, where contemporary and unique design pieces are seamlessly integrated into a domestic setting. While all items are available for purchase, the primary objective is to foster exploration and discovery rather than merely functioning as a retail store. Alhadeff emphasizes that the experience of the space takes precedence over the act of shopping, with the chosen townhouse designed to create a memorable and significant visitor journey. A central feature of the townhouse is a pale-wood staircase, designed by acclaimed British architect David Chipperfield, which serves as a vertical axis connecting all five levels of the building. This staircase, characterized by its dog-leg flights, ascends through an atrium, where a long brass lamp dramatically descends, drawing the eye upwards. The landings and walls along the staircase are utilized as display areas for artworks, further enhancing the gallery's residential aesthetic. The interior design of Casa Perfect New York employs a varied palette; some rooms feature minimalist white walls and black-painted wood floors, providing a neutral backdrop for the displayed designs. Other areas incorporate ombre wallpaper or a darker color scheme, adding diversity to the sensory experience. In the basement, an all-black kitchen houses wine coolers that ingeniously double as display vitrines for various vessels. A marble island countertop in the kitchen also serves as a platform for showcasing additional items. The exterior of the building features a rear facade clad in black-painted brick, which is visible from a ground-level patio area accessible through rotating glass panels. Casa Perfect New York introduces several artists and designers to The Future Perfect's roster for the first time, including Collection Particulière, Marcin Rusak, and Adam Pogue for Commune. The inaugural exhibition also features works by a diverse group of designers such as John Hogan, Eric Roinestad, Chris Wolston, Chris Stuart, Chen Chen and Kai Williams, Reinaldo Sanguino, Floris Wubben, Charles De Lisle, Marta Sala, Piet Hein Eek, Dimore Studio, and Philippe Malouin. This New York location builds on the success of Casa Perfect in Los Angeles, which has occupied a Beverly Hills villa once owned by Elvis Presley, following an initial year in a mid-century Hollywood Hills home. The Future Perfect's operations extend beyond these Casa Perfect locations, with additional spaces in New York at 55 Great Jones Street and in San Francisco at 3085 Sacramento Street. Established by David Alhadeff in 2003, The Future Perfect has consistently showcased individual works from various designers and studios, including Tbilisi-based Rooms, London-based Michael Anastassiades, and New York-based Ladies & Gentlemen Studio. The photography for the Casa Perfect New York gallery was provided by Douglas Friedman. #DesignGallery #HomeDecor #InteriorDesign #DavidChipperfield #TheFuturePerfect #NewYorkCity #WestVillage #CollectibleDesign #ArchitecturalStaircase #DesignGallery #HomeDecor #InteriorDesign #DavidChipperfield #TheFuturePerfect #NewYorkCity #WestVillage #CollectibleDesign #ArchitecturalStaircase
