Updated Yeelight Strip Brings Native HomeKit Support and Razer Chroma Integration
Yeelight has released an updated LED strip, the Yeelight LED Lightstrip 1S, which now features native HomeKit support through a standard HomeKit QR Code. This eliminates the need for users to sign up for a Yeelight account to integrate the product with Apple HomeKit, although existing Xiaomi Mi Home accounts can still be used to sign into the Yeelight app. The new Lightstrip 1S maintains compatibility with various other platforms, including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings.
In addition to HomeKit integration, the new Lightstrip 1S and the updated Smart LED Bulb 1S (Color) now support Razer Chroma integration. This feature is particularly beneficial for gamers who use Razer Chroma compatible products or play games that support Razer Chroma, such as Fortnite, Overwatch, and Apex Legends. The integration allows for an immersive gaming experience where the colors from the Yeelight strip and bulb synchronize with the in-game visuals, similar to the functionality offered by the Hue Sync app. To enable this, users need to activate LAN control for their Yeelight products within the Yeelight app and then use the free Yeelight Chroma Connector plug-in, available for download on both the Razer and Yeelight websites.
Coaster Li, VP and Head of Yeelight Overseas Division, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with Razer, highlighting the enhanced gaming experience for users who frequently decorate their gaming setups with Yeelight products. Kushal Tandon, Director of Software Marketing at Razer, also welcomed Yeelight to the Razer Chroma Connected device program, emphasizing the expanded options for gamers to customize their environments with a colorful and integrated lighting experience. While only the Lightstrip 1S and the Smart LED Bulb 1S (Color) currently support Razer Chroma, Yeelight plans to extend this compatibility to more products in the future.
Beyond the new integrations, both the Lightstrip 1S and the color bulb have received internal improvements. The power supply for the Lightstrip 1S has been reduced in size by approximately 20%, yet it retains its extendable length of up to 10 meters (33 feet). The lumen output for the light strip has seen a modest increase from 180 lumens per meter to 200 lumens per meter, while simultaneously consuming less power. Similarly, the Smart LED Bulb 1S (Color) maintains an 800-lumen output but achieves this with a lower power draw of 8.5 watts, compared to the previous generation's 10 watts. Both products operate on the 2.4GHz WiFi band and are now shipped with individual HomeKit codes for straightforward setup.
