Eneia White is dreaming in shades of saffron, pink and dusty plum
New York-based designer Eneia White of Eneia White Interiors focuses on achieving a balance between fun and sophistication in her interior design projects. She aims to create vibrant, inviting spaces with a playful touch through unique textile combinations and unexpected color palettes. Her design philosophy emphasizes blending sultry and playful elements, as showcased in her current mood board, which features rich colors and energetic patterns.
The inspiration for White's mood board originated from a saffron-colored hand-knotted rug from Armadillo. To complement this, she incorporated feminine charm through various prints and added a more serious tone with classic colors like navy. The mood board demonstrates a nuanced approach to color and texture, with fabrics and wallpapers displaying subtle patterns and nubby textures, adding depth to the overall scheme. White describes her ultimate goal as "casual opulence," where rooms feel luxurious without being excessive.
White provides a detailed breakdown of the components that make up her mood board. This includes Pindler's P6170 HABERSHAM-ROSEWOOD FABRIC, a graphic cotton-linen blend she envisions for drapery due to its playful and bold marker strokes. For tiles, she selected Waterworks' ARCHITECTONICS TILE in Cadet, praising its glossy finish and sophisticated saturation, and Bradbury Tile in Tiger Eye, which features a hand-glazed ceramic finish mimicking rugged brick textures. Métaphores' COCOON fabric in CHAMOIS, a lilac plum chenille, is included for its soft depth, while Perennials' ROCK STEADY fabric in WHITE SANDS offers an outdoor-friendly, fade-and-mold-resistant option with a speckled texture.
Further balancing her palette, Stout's CATALINA 1 BISQUE Fabric provides a subtle beige-and-white floral print. For contrasting elements, Zia Tile's CEMENT TILE in COBALT introduces a bright blue pop against earth tones. Wallpapers play a significant role, with Studio Four's ASTERISK DESIGNS WALLPAPER, which reminds White of a seashell with its soft dimples creating unexpected reflections, and Sarah + Ruby's GOOD VIBRATIONS Wallpaper in COPPER/INDIGO, noted for its organic shapes that prevent spaces from feeling cold and linear, and its playful pink and navy combination.
S. Harris's MAXIMAL TEXTURE FABRIC in SEASONS AND TAILORED, a striated chenille, contributes texture and graphic interest without overpowering the earthy color scheme. The central piece, Armadillo's MALAWI RUG in SAFFRON, is highlighted for its ability to anchor the entire design, with White also appreciating its tassels. Stout's MINGLE 1 SEAGLASS Fabric adds texture through rhythmic seafoam green linework evoking crashing waves, while Fairfield's 3363 ROSE Fabric, a dusty pink velvet, complements the blue hues. Schumacher's COPP FABRIC in NATURAL provides an abstract print on a neutral background, suitable for various palettes and patterns. Finally, Waterworks' METAL FINISH COIN SET offers material inspiration, and Ann Sacks' STONE AND MOSAIC TILES are chosen to ground trendy elements with natural, timeless selections, with White noting Armadillo Rugs' KALAHARI RUG in NATURAL & CHALK for its versatile collection ranging from dusty grays to saturated cinnamons.
