We talked to 4 interior designers to find 'Bridgerton'-inspired home decor that will transport you to the Regency era

The popularity of Netflix's 'Bridgerton' has sparked a 'Regencycore' trend, influencing home decor with its opulent, romanticized Regency-era aesthetic. Set in England between 1810 and 1820, the show's vibrant colors, intricate floral wallpapers, and elaborate furnishings offer a distinct departure from contemporary design. Interior designers note that while 'Bridgerton' presents a romanticized vision of the Regency period, elements of its style can be seamlessly integrated into modern homes to add prettiness and romance. Key aspects of 'Bridgerton'-inspired decor include the strategic use of pillows. Shonda Rhimes, the show's executive producer, is known for her layered approach to interior design, which extends to a profusion of pillows on seating. Adding tasseled, velvet damask, or toile-patterned pillows can introduce this aesthetic. Mirrors and art also play a crucial role. Antique-style mirrors, particularly those with ornate frames or filigree, can serve as focal points and artistic pieces, reflecting the period's appreciation for grandeur. Additionally, incorporating classical busts, inspired by the Regency era's interest in ancient Greek and Roman excavations, and ornate clocks can enhance the historical ambiance. Flowers and vases are central to the 'Bridgerton' look, embodying a desire to bring the garden indoors. The show frequently features elaborate floral arrangements in gilded containers. Simple floral choices like anemones and sweet peas, arranged in distressed gold compote bowls, blue-and-white ginger jars, or elegant Wedgwood vases, can evoke this natural elegance. The wisteria that famously adorns the Bridgerton family home can also be replicated with faux sprigs to add a touch of romantic charm. For tableware, the show highlights delicate teacups, saucers, and intricately designed goblets. Sourcing vintage floral teacups, embroidered napkins, or modern interpretations from brands like Wedgwood can infuse dining experiences with a Regency flair. The design philosophy extends to furniture, where antique shops and online platforms like Chairish and 1stDibs are recommended for finding pieces with curved silhouettes, delicate details, and embellishments characteristic of the period. While authentic Regency furniture can be expensive, similar styles from later eras offer more accessible options, often worth restoring for their unique and sustainable appeal. Color palettes on 'Bridgerton' lean towards bright pastels, including pinks, mints, and light blues, a more whimsical approach compared to the historical Regency era's stronger reds and dark greens. These colors can be used as accents in a neutral room. Edward Bulmer Natural Paint colors, such as Drab Green, Tawny, French Blue, Lavender, and Duck Egg, are featured in the show's interiors, with comparable shades available from brands like Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore. Fabrics and patterns emphasize femininity, with florals, delicate prints, and damask being prominent. Brands like Cole & Son and Schumacher offer textiles with intricate designs, including hummingbirds, butterflies, and detailed toile. These fabrics can be used for pillows, drapes, or reupholstering furniture. Wallpaper further enhances the Regency aesthetic, with designers suggesting modernized toile or damask patterns. Creating paneled walls with molding and adding removable wallpaper can emulate the luxurious backdrops seen in the show, whether through classic damask, subtle stripes, or bold floral designs. The overall approach to 'Bridgerton' decor is about selecting cherished elements to create a personalized, romantic, and elegant living space without adhering strictly to historical accuracy. #BridgertonDecor #Regencycore #HomeDecor #InteriorDesign #Pillows #Mirrors #FloralArrangements #Tableware #AntiqueFurniture #ColorPalette #FabricPatterns #Wallpaper #BridgertonDecor #Regencycore #HomeDecor #InteriorDesign #Pillows #Mirrors #FloralArrangements #Tableware #AntiqueFurniture #ColorPalette #FabricPatterns #Wallpaper
