This maximalist hallway transformation proves you can make a big impact on a small budget

Rachel Poolton from Cardiff, owner of a beauty clinic, undertook a thrifty hallway renovation to create an appealing first impression for her clients as her business is attached to her home. With an initial budget for the project, Rachel opted to get creative by purchasing a chair, dressing table, and chest of drawers for £55. She successfully upcycled these items and sold them for a profit of £300, providing funds for her renovation. The renovation began with stripping old wallpaper and removing the worn-out striped carpet. For the stairs, instead of investing in an entirely new carpet, Rachel chose a more economical solution: she used a carpet runner, attaching it with panel pins, and painted the remaining steps black. This monochrome pattern provided a striking yet cost-effective transformation. A professional tiler installed tiles from Wickes, purchased on sale for £20 per box of 10, replacing the original price of £28. Rachel also addressed an old radiator by concealing it with a radiator cover bought for £30 from Facebook Marketplace. She repurposed an existing shelf above the radiator, upcycling it to match the new aesthetic. Additionally, a small unit for under the stairs was acquired for £5 and painted the same color, contributing to a cohesive look. For the finishing touches, Rachel created a gallery wall along the staircase to draw the eye upward. To keep costs down, she sourced picture frames from online selling platforms, paying between £1 and £15 for multiple frames. These frames were then painted in blush and dark black tones to complement the overall color scheme. The most expensive items were the blinds, including a blush-colored Roman blind from Dunelm, purchased at half price for £32, and a made-to-measure wooden-effect white blind for £115. Finally, floral wallpaper, acquired from eBay for under £10, was applied to the side of the stairs by Rachel herself. The overall scheme was enhanced with accessories such as vases, fake plants, a rug, and canvases, all sourced affordably from Facebook Marketplace, B&M, The Range, Poundland, and Wilkinson. The result is a hallway with a feminine vibe and a cohesive, maximalist design. Tom Church, co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, highlighted the effectiveness of smart online shopping and upcycling to save money and generate funds for home projects. #MaximalistDecor #HallwayDesign #BudgetRenovation #DIYHomeDecor #UpcyclingFurniture #FacebookMarketplaceFinds #ThriftyDecor #HomeTransformation #InteriorDesign #MaximalistDecor #HallwayDesign #BudgetRenovation #DIYHomeDecor #UpcyclingFurniture #FacebookMarketplaceFinds #ThriftyDecor #HomeTransformation #InteriorDesign
