Dynamic perspectives: a lamp that transforms with every angle
Lodes, in collaboration with Needs Studio, has introduced the Tidal suspension lamp, expanding its acclaimed collection. This new addition complements the existing ceiling version, maintaining the family's distinctive fluid and asymmetrical design while offering enhanced luminous efficiency. The Tidal suspension lamp's form is inspired by celestial bodies, waves, and tides, blending aesthetic simplicity with captivating design principles. Its asymmetrical structure, featuring a double-shell configuration, is engineered to provide both direct and indirect lighting, effectively reducing glare. The twisting effect on the lamp's ring creates a dynamic visual experience that shifts with the viewer's perspective, making one side appear wider than the other.
Functionality is a core aspect of the Tidal lamp's design, delivering a light output exceeding 6,000 lumens. The light is projected equally upwards and downwards, thanks to a balanced 50-50 ratio. A dual ignition system allows users to independently adjust both the intensity and direction of the light, offering versatile illumination options for various environments. All technical components are discreetly integrated within the lamp's slender profile, preserving its minimalist aesthetic. Massimiliano Tosetto, Managing Director at Lodes, highlights the lamp's suitability for both hospitality and residential settings, emphasizing its high lighting efficiency and the innovative rise-and-fall function for adjustable height.
The Tidal suspension lamp is designed for an elegant, floating appearance. It is supported by three thin cables attached to a matte metal ceiling canopy, available in black or white. The canopy is intentionally designed to be smaller in diameter than the lamp's ring, enhancing the illusion that the lamp is suspended weightlessly. This design choice allows the lamp to seamlessly integrate into diverse interior styles, from professional spaces to residential homes. Two versions are available: a standard suspension model with cables extending up to 4 meters, and a rise-and-fall model. The latter incorporates an advanced concealed winding mechanism, enabling easy height adjustment. This feature is particularly beneficial in dynamic environments like restaurants and hospitality venues, where lighting needs may change frequently based on table arrangements. Despite their technical differences, both models maintain an identical visual aesthetic.
The suspension lamp is available in a single 60 cm diameter, complementing the three existing ceiling lamp sizes in the Tidal collection. It comes in four matte finishes: white, terra, champagne, and black, making it adaptable to a wide range of interior color schemes and styles. Its versatility makes it suitable for various applications, from intimate residential settings to large-scale professional and contract projects. The rise-and-fall variant offers a practical yet stylish solution for hospitality environments that require flexible lighting configurations. Needs Studio's design effectively merges sophisticated aesthetics with advanced functionality. The lamp’s innovative features, dynamic form, and adaptable configurations position it as a prominent choice for spaces where both visual appeal and performance are equally valued, making a bold yet elegant statement in any interior.
