Floral Arrangements To Try If You Have A Winter Zodiac Sign
The winter season, with its promise of a fresh start, is an opportune time for reinvention. For those born under the winter astrological signs of Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces, this period holds a special significance. To encapsulate the essence of these signs and mark the final stretch of cold weather, floral designer Katie Chirgotis of Eothen and designer-astrologist Allie Couch of Cosmo Muse collaborated to create unique floral arrangements that reflect each zodiac sign.
For Capricorns, born between December 22 and January 19, the arrangement symbolizes achievement, glory, and dedication. Couch notes that Capricorn energy is associated with strict focus and structure, akin to setting high-reaching intentions for the new year. Chirgotis translated this by creating a prominent 'spine' using a woven birch branch, guiding the viewer's gaze before it settles on early spring bulb flowers. The arrangement incorporates ranunculus, Fritillaria meleagris, and foraged marsh grass, embodying mastery, structure, and restraint—qualities essential for achieving long-lasting integrity.
The Aquarius arrangement, representing those born from January 20 to February 18, captures progressive, avant-garde, and forward-thinking energy. Chirgotis selected unusual elements such as glittered Gypsum and staked okra, presented in a space-age container. Dried components like Protea Banksia and foraged desert grass are included to signify the air element associated with Aquarius. Couch emphasizes that this period encourages thinking about the future and hints at spring's arrival, urging creativity and innovation in floral choices. The recommendation is to scavenge for foliage in mid-winter and embrace the unusual, pushing boundaries of conventional design.
Finally, the Pisces arrangement, for those born between February 19 and March 20, marks the last solar season of winter and the culmination of the zodiac tour. Couch describes this period as a time for decompression, healing, dreaming, and finding meaning in experiences since spring began. The floral design draws inspiration from the otherworldly sea, featuring a kelp bulb discovered in Monterey Bay that dried into a unique sea-wave shape. This element sets a contemplative mood, inviting a symbolic reflection on life and a dissolution of self-imposed boundaries. Floating pale orchid blooms and statice are incorporated to balance the installation, which is fashioned from copper pipe and leather tiles, evoking images of starfish and coral.
These arrangements serve as centerpieces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also deeply symbolic, connecting the characteristics of each winter zodiac sign with specific floral and design elements.
