Lindsey Adelman launches Paradise lighting collection

Lindsey Adelman Studio has unveiled its latest lighting collection, 'Paradise,' which embodies an ethos of wanderlust and spontaneous luxury. Launched in March 2021, the collection was conceived by designer Lindsey Adelman prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing inspiration from the concept of a nomadic lifestyle and redefining luxury as freedom and optionality. Adelman aimed to create pieces that encourage the mind to wander and to approach the world with fresh perspectives, rejecting habituated ways of thinking and experiencing. The 'Paradise' collection features elegant and unconventional compositions, combining textured Venetian-inspired glass orbs with brass curb chains and clusters of metal fringing. The design intentionally avoids straight vertical lines, a common challenge in lighting design, to achieve a more organic and fluid aesthetic. Adelman was influenced by a bracelet she owned, seeking to reinvent traditional chandelier elements into sculptural pieces that set a mood. A key innovation in the collection is the collaboration with textile artist Taryn Urushido, who crocheted electrical wires onto heavy chains, transforming the electrical component from something to conceal into an opulent, drapey element. The collection manifests a bohemian, almost Moroccan textile-like quality, designed to appear spontaneous and less prescribed in its placement within a room. This aesthetic aims for opulence and indulgence while suggesting a dynamic quality, as if the pieces could change at any moment. The design incorporates oversized, jewelry-esque rings for suspension and utilizes long, needle-like pins to attach additional glass vessels, enhancing its intricate and artisanal feel. 'Paradise' evolved from 'Paradise City,' an immersive sculptural work Adelman presented at Design Miami Art Basel in 2019. This continuity of theme reflects Adelman's design philosophy, where all her collections engage in a conversation with each other, allowing clients with multiple pieces to maintain a cohesive yet varied aesthetic. The collection offers versatility, available in chandelier, pendant, and sconce forms, and is highly customizable. Adelman emphasizes that the added details in the 'Paradise' collection highlight its optionality, suggesting that elements like the 'baubles' could move, ensuring nothing feels rigidly fixed. This flexibility and the extensive custom work offered by her studio allow clients to tailor the pieces to their specific needs, a core driver of her design process. The collection is characterized by its blend of heavy brass chains, slender polished pins, and a palette featuring shades of pink and amber, creating a riot of irregular and unpredictable forms that celebrate spontaneous design. #LindseyAdelman #LightingDesign #ParadiseCollection #LuxuryLighting #InteriorDesign #GlassArt #BrassDetails #CustomLighting #BohemianDesign #LindseyAdelman #LightingDesign #ParadiseCollection #LuxuryLighting #InteriorDesign #GlassArt #BrassDetails #CustomLighting #BohemianDesign
